I need to get new headlights for my mkv rabbit since the stock ones are way too yellow to repair. I want to get some OEM projectors but they are over $500 and I would rather not spend that much. ECS has a pair of FK Automotive headlights that are half the price but I am concerned with the quality. There is Helix brand headlights which again I am concerned with fogging due to leaking and the longevity of these aftermarket headlights.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these brands? My plan is to use the stock halogen bulbs in the new projector housing to see how much it is improved and maybe do a HID swap if I need additional light output.

I put expensive projectors in my 2000 Mustang. They really improved my visibility especially with the dims on, the light is bright up to level then it is dark above that level. I hit another deer and destroyed those so I bought a cheep pair. The only difference was the cheep ones didn't have separate adjustments for the dim and high, which means I can't see very high when coming to a hill. If I had it to do again I would buy the expensive ones about $250. I don't know either brand but the cheaper ones fog when off occasionally.

My projectors didn't come with stock bulbs as it separates the bright and dim. I put Silverstar bulbs in it. My current lights use H1's for both dims and brights. HIDs might save gas but I think the halogens are bright enough for me.

Actually, virtually any yellowed headlight is salvagable. Try this First: http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums/detail-institute-presented-autopia-carcare-com/41903-autopia-guide-headlight-restoration.html And if that doesn't work you can try this (puts clear coat on headlight): http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=297688

Then, treat yourself to some +100% headlights (twice the brightness) http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/76743/philips-x-tremevision

don't select projectors that are too ridiculously bright. I've had mutliple people literally blind me on the road at near midnight going to work because they put horrendous aftermarket lights on the VWs and Civics.
