TIL the islanders are called Manx.
What, no appearance of Guy Martin in the video?
I'm surprised 60 Minutes ran a story on the TT, but it was pretty well done. Going there is on my bucket list.

I watch vids each year to prove to myself I'm not nearly as insane as some people think I may be.
A friend who could barely afford to ship his bike there and race was given room, board and shop use for his 3 efforts by a local family. Very cool. Sadly, he lost another friend there - not to a turn or a bump. He was just running at high speed and a gust of wind pushed him off the course - or at least that's what witnesses think was the reason.

When I was in my 20s I would have entered the event on 10 minutes notice. They still ran the 125cc GP bikes back then and I always wanted to ride mine there.
I know several people who've competed there.
One of the guys I knew brushed a wall with the sleeve of his leathers and said he was done after that...............back then I would have been showing off the scuffed leathers.
These days I watch in admiration. I would love go for the classic bikes.
The challenge of hitting your marks for a 37 mile lap has great appeal to me.

The reality of road racing a motorcycle when I was competing back in the 80s was that you were going to see people die. I've seen people killed at Willow Springs and Riverside; that fact made the danger of the Isle of Man less daunting since I was already taking a big risk.
It's less common now but still a reality sadly. IoM have really worked hard to take it as safe as can be.
I have Manx ancestors and visited there back in 2007 - about two weeks after the TT. It's a beautiful place, with interesting operating historic narrow-gauge railroads, both steam and electric, for the RR people here. There are more bike races than just the TT, and there is an international (not WRC) pavement rally as well.
