parts arnt cheap for that car
ask around
Eh, just part the car out.
So you are spending 5815.06 + a few extra for fluids and misc. to sell for maybe 5500? I'm not getting the rich part.
The parts counter at the VW dealer might be getting rich quicker...

I flip lots of cars, and it is generally easier and more profitable to find ones that need minor repairs, or simple cosmetic stuff.
Also I would be amazed if you got anywhere close to 5k for a 2000 beetle, you can't always go by kbb.com.
That's a lot of time your spending on a Beatle... time better spent elsewhere.
They really do sell for that much. I dont think the parts are all that much for them either, The bad things are that for a car to fix and sell, an automatic would be much more popular with the desired audience, and that the AEG engine is kinda crappy and its annoying to work on. If it was a TDI that would be a completely different story though.

You missed the sale part (I know, it's not very clear in the original post). A new AEG retails for $4k, but it on sale for $800 shipped, so $1,800 and it's done.

Ooooh. There might be a little scratch to be had then. I say buy it, stuff it full of diesel, and run it at Challenge.

The car had a 1.8 Turbo in it and the "replacement" engine is the 2.0 non turbo for 800 plus a 1500 core charge plus shipping. then your still looking at the very least an ecu change. plus the immobilizer issues. I'm thinking it's a lose money quick scheme. nobody is going to really want to pony up 5K for a Beetle that's been hacked that was a turbo car and now is not.
I didn't read the original description, so I didn't realize it was a 1.8t car. I wonder why it has a "bad motor"? If it's just a simple broken timing belt, $400-$500 of parts and a weekend of work will have it up and running.
The 1.8t was just added i guess, didnt say that yesterday. Im scratching the idea anyway.
