Let's say I get a car from my sister from my sister for free. What would the fair the fair market value of the car be? A dealership offered her something like $400 to $600 for it. I can't quite remember. Would this work as a starting price for the challenge?

Use similar cars on eBay as a valid price line but bring a few examples to verify.

Well it is a '92 Civic EX 4 door with 250k miles that has lived in Chicago for a while so it has a little rust and a lot dents. It also has a slipping clutch.

Yea, you have to assess fair market value for something like that. $500 seems reasonable.
