Non-M E46 on maybe 3rd or 4th weekend at VIR (4 or 5 20ish minute sessions per day, 2 days per weekend). Outside of LF started chunking, see pics. There an obvious setup change someone would point towards, or are the tires just done? Car has H&R lowering springs and as much camber as they can put in the front without camber plates. This is my buddy's car, I wasn't there this weekend, so can't comment on how it was driven, but usually pretty hard.
You can still run those tires but keep a close eye on wear where those chunks are. Chunking usually happens because the tire's getting overheated, you might be able to mitigate it with more negative camber but a compound that can stand up to more heat would be a better fix. Looks like AD08Rs? How wide? Narrower tire setups also overheat more easily.

Yes, AD08's, and yes, pretty narrow, 205's.
There aren't a lot of tires that wouldn't chunk at that width on a car that heavy, it would be a good idea to move up to at least 245-wide tires.

It's on his list... But rims ain't cheap!
Don't cheap used corvette rims fit these? Also too much heat too fast possibly, easy to do in HDPE.
Believe camaros (atleast my 6th gen) have the same bolt pattern, not sure about hub bore though. Would think it would be easy to swap a cheap set of 330i wheels on for 150 bucks and atleast run a 235/245 width or something?
Heck, too bad you are in VA, or I would have something for your buddy.
debris? i mean, if that's the only spot. if it's around the entire circumference, then I'd go with thermal.

Think center bore is too small. And my lathe can't handle an 18" wheel...or we could try to fix that.
