i will be posting them over in the classified section as soon as i go thru them. i have one posted there now. they all will be under $2000.00

Not around here for an 325IS. All selling over $3k with all kinds of different issues. Test drove an 1988 in Atlanta last weekend. The engine stumbled badly and there were no 3rd gear. Clutch was sticky. At this point it's all mechanical issues in which he denied was not the issue. Car interior and exterior was in excellent shape for it's age. No rust either. He wanted $3.5k. I offered him $1.5k and he was offended. Left to get lunch and came back to see it being loaded onto a buyers car trailer. Owner was gone so I asked what the buyer what he paid for it. $1.5k. . Apparently he was so mad, he offered the car to the next buyer for that price without a test drive.

What do you do when your E36 is all taken apart and waiting on parts to go back together? Look at E30's!

Anyhow, I was looking at E30's (online) over the weekend, and noticed you could still get some decent cars for under $2-3k.

From what I can see, the really desireable, late short bumper 2 door/5-speed 325is's and 318is's are still going for good money. What has really changed is this whole idea that ANY E30 is worth $4-5k seems to be gone. I saw decent unrusty driver quality e's and es's, four doors, automatics and cars with diving board bumpers back to regular used car prices.

Well around here, E30's are crazy expensive. Like 240sx expensive. Just looked, and the cheapest functionnal E30 that I would buy (6 cylinder, manual) is 5.6K!!!

The only thing cheaper is a 87 325is with a blown engine and cheapo lowering springs on stock struts (so you know the owner is a connaiseur ) for 1.3K.

So I would say that E30 prices are still crazy high.

I wonder what the trajectory will be; has the recent GRM-and-associated-types fascination with E30s been a blip that temporarily artificially inflated the price, but also, was that only an early peak, with values to rise more steadily later?

I still think they're neat. I wish mine hadn't been totaled before I got to really enjoy it in it's "finished" state. But at the time it went, I hadn't really fallen in love with it...

Occasionally people ponder which cars will have enough fond memories or cachet or je ne sais quois to become "collectible". The E30 is at in interesting intersection of being popular enough to not be rare, but still have something of an aura about it. It's also modern enough not to be very idiosyncratic in form or function...

I love the look of the E30 and for a pedestrian sedan from the 80's it was a total overachiever but... $5k for a 325is without a full cage and a logbook?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Not around the NYC/North NJ area. Junk is way overpriced. I have been trying to find an E30 convertible for months and they all seem to be overpriced or just non existent. The hunt continues.

I just got $7k for my 87 325is a few weeks ago. So no, I'd say E30s are still priced high.

What's wrong with this one from Mark himself?

It's in Pittsburg and not anywhere near me here in Brooklyn

Otherwise I would absolutely pick that up, or trade him straight up for my '83 944.

The good deals are never anywhere near me

The market is beginning to split. Good cars are commanding high prices, poor cars low prices. Just like any old car, condition is everything.

That blows my mind. Not that I don't like E30's, I do, but that's a lot of money for one.

There are several that is selling for above the $10K range . The cars do look nice but these people believe their car goes up in value with all the performance or aftermarket parts they put in it or high end custom paint.

I'm looking for a clean small bumper coupe rolling shell or car with mechanical problems if you run into one! Mine has accident damage and is rusty enough to not be worth repairing.

To be honest, I don't think the sale of a GRM project car is representative of pricing trends. Whoever bought that car knew exactly what he was buying and who he was buying it from.

I sold my 318is without the SSR's for $6200 and that was 3 years ago.
