My 928 needs a headlight and while I was searching around, I stumbled upon these.
Which begs the question, are they more this......
or this
Which I find tacky a/f

There's two major players in HD LED's. There's Trucklites and there's another brand that I forget, but it is "audio" something or other that makes them and they are sold as something like "Dayco". The other brand make the Harley branded lights sold by HD. The Harley ones are very expensive. The Trucklites are not that bad. I have one of each. They both are fantastic. There's a Europa running around Hawaii with the Trucklites on it.
Your question, as I see it, depends entirely on whether these lights have some sort of DRL component, glow in some bizzare eyebrow pattern, or are in an unusual color that is neither halogen nor HID.

'JW Speaker' I think ? (if I remember correctly, seeing the name here and there)
I've got two sets of GE Nighthawk LED lights, which look identical to the Trucklites so I suspect they're the same. They're fantastic.
They also don't look weird, which is a plus on the 928.
Yep, those look like JW Speaker 8700 headlights. They are nice but stupid expensive.
I bought KC Hilites LED headlights for my Wrangler. I've heard that the Trucklites produce a wierd "X" artifact where the beams cross but the KCs don't have that problem. They are awesome. Much better than the candle-in-a-jar headlights that Chrysler deemed to be sufficient.
Recon also makes some nice LED headlights but they are more than the JW Speaker ones!
I also found that Peterson seems to make LED headlights as well. I think they are exactly the same as the KCs.
I think you should get some Nolans since they are made in Germany
Yeah, JW Speaker for the Harley sourced lights. When I bought the one for the Sportster, Harley was the only place I could find with a 5.25" LED headlight. Even the JW Speaker web site didn't list anything. The difference between that headlight and a "super special" $100 (from HD, of course) halogen bulb is amazing. I had both behind me during a day ride and the LED looked twice as bright.
This is where I bought the Trucklights: http://www.discountfleetsupply.com/
There is a 10 point off coupon code floating around somewhere too, and it still worked as of a few months ago.
I should point out that the Nighthawks in the above picture are an older model, the current ones have a printed chrome strip along the center just like the Petersons and KCs.
The GEs do have a brighter beam in the middle, almost like there's a pencil beam running at the same time. It's not a problem, it's almost like you can use them for aiming.

Your 4Runner cost 1% of what it did when it was new? I'm sure you'll be able to find some heavily used, lightly damaged but still good LED headlights at the junkyard in 15 years for about $4.
