I believe he is much of the reason GM has very good performance cars (although the perception hasn't caught up with the reality). Without him, GM performance will not reach these levels again.
I wonder where he'll end up? He's not gonna actually retire.
Anyone who had a chance to watch him drive! I had many times to watch his smoothness. From driving in One Lap to watching him in a Pro division to the Runoffs, he is a drivers driver.
I guess he's trying to get out before the Bankruptcy. But he doesn't realize his pension will go too.

I got a feeling he could easily shop a job someplace else, unless he got paid cash and signed a non-compete.
The head of GM Motorsports also retired and no replacement has beenpicked for either. That doesn't sound good. http://www.carjunkietv.com/cj-news/A-Guy-You-Don-t-Know-leaves-GM-We-Worry.html

Not necessarily. If GM is doing a defined benefit pension then The Pension Guarentee Trust corporation wil see that he gets at least part of it.
based on wallys link and

I believe that they are screwed and shedding the performance division. Halo cars do not make any money.
This makes me a little concerned for the future of the Corvette in particular. Do the automakers not have 401Ks available? I'd be really worried about working for any company that managed my retirement fund, even if it were allegedly healthy.
