My mom's 2011 Honda Accord Crosstour has developed a new trick. When you put it in reverse the driver's side power mirror tilts all the way down. I have no idea why, or how, but it's definitely happening.

That's normal, a lot of cars do that. It's for seeing curbs and stuff. I personally hate it though. Probably can be turned off somewhere, not sure on that particular vehicle but check the settings for the vehicle in the radio, if its anything like new GMs
Normal. If it bothers you there should be a way to disable it. My wife's h2 has it and you have to disable it in each drivers saved settings.
I was going to ask why it just started this after she's had the car for a year, but I figure the obvious answer is that the previous owner had it turned off and one of us managed to turn it back on. Now I just need to dig through the owners manual to find out how to turn it back off I guess.
If Honda does it like Toyota, it will tilt when the selector switch for the mirror buttons is on L or R, but not when the switch is centered.
I wouldn't expect the driver's side to do it, should be the passenger side. Maybe both?
On my e46 if the mirror adjustment switch is switched to the driver's side the passenger side mirror drops while in Reverse. If I flip the switch to the passenger side it disables the feature.
I would imagine the Honda has a similar setup.
Oh, great. That explains how I turned it on yesterday. I'm gonna go try this now.
EDIT: Fixed it, thanks guys.
Put the mirror adjustment switch in the middle, on our acura the mirror dips depending on if the switch is in the Left or Right side, in the middle neither mirror moves

This, and it does it for the side the switch is selected onto.
Yeah she had always left the switch centered until I adjusted the driver's side mirror Saturday on the way back from Paducah and forgot to the switch back. So she was thinking her car was broken and wanted answers. I myself am more used to my 80s Dodge and similar vehicles, so I had no idea what was going on.

Interesting note on that last bit. On the Toyota / Lexus products I've driven that do the mirror tilt, they both tilt regardless of which side is selected. It's both or none.

That is so you can't see what you're about to back into. Other peoples' cars or pedestrians or other stuff are not as important as the middle of your rocker panel.
It's the automotive equivalent of Peril Sensitive Sunglasses, that turn black when you are in danger so you won't be alarmed by whatever is putting you in danger.
Alternatively, when it is the right side mirror that droops, it is an excuse to put your head in your date's lap while trying to park.
It's been around for a while, my 2002 E39 has it. Controlled by the adjuster switch.
I don't use it, but I can see the logic. When you're parallel parking, that mirror doesn't really offer any information because of the way you're turning. But there's no way you could see the curb without it.

I'm pretty sure Honda Accord Crosstours come with center rear-view mirrors. :)
You know, i thought the original Crosstour was hideous and didn't see the point, but the current evolution on the new civic looks good! I guess it just took a while to get it right..
The Crosstour is very hideous, but the J35 and the fact that it's tall enough to not give too much of a berk in most situations are kind of nice. If it was my money I would have just bought a normal Accord though.
'09 E92 has it passenger side only, mirror is kinda small but it does help. Rather have a BU cam tho.
Both mirrors tilt on the '14 Silverado plus a BU cam, kinda spoils me but this is a big boat kind of a thing.
Hate to have to replace any of these gizmos outta my pocket tho.
