I have a chevy express conversion van, 1/2 ton with the 5.7 gas motor. If you turned it into a 3/4 turbo diesel, I think it would be about perfect. I find mine tows pretty well as is, but I just run a heavy open trailer, with a 3000lbs car on top. 3/4 would be better. Diesel would very cool. Transmission is the more important thing to me in the situation. My biggest gripe with the conversion van, even though it has a fiberglass hi-top, it still doesn't allow me to stand straight up. My wife is 5'4", and she just clears the roof. Sprinter chassis is the winner in that respect.
