I need some help. I want to create a mounting solution that can easily swap between my mag safe phone charger and a garmin catalyst.
Here are the details:
car = c6 corvette
goals: create a mounting solution that allows me to securly mount my cell phone and then remove the mag safe mount and install the Garmin Catalyst for track days.
Here is what I have purchased so far.
Proclip C6 mount:
Proclip/Scosche MagicMount:
Finally, I purchased a garmin catalyst which uses the standard 1" ram mount setup. The Scosche setup uses a ball and socket setup but based on some research (I haven't measured yet) uses a 19/32" mount which is 1/32" of an inch larger than the RAM Mount A size mount (9/16")
so far I have had two ideas:
1. build up the 19/32" ball so that it equals a 1" size and then mount a Ram size B ball to the proclip and use a short socket for the phone and an appropriate sized one to position the Garmin mount. I figured I could do it either with electrical tape or see if somebody who could help me design something that could be 3d printed (thinking two parts that have an ID of 19/32" and an OD of 1")
2. find a RAM mount that adapts a B size to a size, still use the B size on the proclip ensuring I have sufficient support for the garmin.
thoughts, suggestions, dumb idea and not worth it?
