Collision (liability) is covered in your vehicle insurance.

Comprehensive and/ or theft iof the trailer s not. You need additional coverages for this.

I always purchased comprehensive coverage on the trailer for about $15 per six months (from State Farm). Liability is covered under my auto policy. Trailer got stolen, State Farm wrote me a check (for more than I paid for the trailer as prices had gone up). Second trailer got stolen, I got another check from State Farm. Both were tandem axle trailers; one was wood deck, one was open deck. Evidently in Phoenix trailers such as mine are frequently stolen. Both trailers were locked in my apartment parking lot.

Bottom line, $30 a year in case of theft makes an awful lot of sense to me.
