Wow. I'm bummed I missed this thread till now. A rollercoaster from the first post.
I hate dealing with the awful English one comes across on the likes of free online classifieds, but sometimes you must suffer in order to find cheap tarbos for sail.
Whenever I experience someone typing "your" in place of "you're", I respond "My ____!?" I always wonder what profound thoughts come to their sagacious minds. Given my response is frequently "My gay!?", I'm going to assume nothing.

I'm trying to figure out who the hell it is so I can not give a E36 M3.
EDIT: Found it. Carry on.

It was The User Formerly Known as '_'
I one time had a light argument with a friend about what a bumper is called. He was adamant that it was called the fender. I thought he was kidding for a while, until I asked him to show his work: "Why is a small crash called a fender bender then?!"
Stampie your post shows you're paying attention

If your friend had brought up boat fenders you might have had to give him the win.

Is your friend British by any chance?

Footing/ footer. [snip] A footer is a source reference at the bottom of a printed document.
That'd be a footnote.
A footer is the bottom portion of a page that often contains info about the document, e.g., page numbering, chapter title, version date, etc. Similar stuff at the top of the page? Yep, a header (and, no, not the thing that's bolted to a cylinder head).

That depends on where you are and who you are talking to. And what subject you are talking about.

Right? His logic was spot on.

Is it a 10-footer or a 20-footer? In the sailboat world we have 50-footers.

I am from Rhode Island, and I vividly remember being shocked that the Karmann Ghia was not a "common gear".lk Thanks for the memory!

I've rage-quit one message board in my entire life, CodeProject.com. Some troubled Country singer had killed herself, and the response there was appalling. I just went back and read the thread that pissed me off, and it still pisses me off. I didn't participate in it myself, just started another thread titled "Sayonara, Chumps" and shared my thoughts there.
People who develop software, work in IT, etc. are really some of the worst people on the planet. You hear a lot of bitching about attorneys, cops, etc. but I'd rather spend my free time with them than with computer programmers (or whatever the hell they call themselves now), no question.
No one on this board has ever stooped down to that level, or offended me much in any way (and I know Jack That-M3-y'all-hate about cars).
