I am interested in taking part in some hill climb events next year in or around California's Bay Area.
One of my dreams is to take part in the Spectre 341 Challenge.
I have been searching SCCA Hill climb rules, and events in Google, but I can not find any good information. I can not find a definitive SCCA rule book or anything, about car classes, or event locations. I have been over a few SCCA web pages as well.
If anyone could share any links or other information I would be very appreciative.
Cheers and happy hump day!
I think they now use the HPDE 4 rule book, a few years ago there was talk of using road racing rules as a format on this but I have been out of the loop for a few years.

One more thing:Back then we used RR and Auto X classes.
Doesn't the Spectre 341 Challenge have the rulebook on their website?
Mind you, you might want to drive that road a couple of times before trying to take part in it. I've driven it myself and it's a little scary...

Hillclimbs fall under the Time Trial rules (formerly Solo I). Classing is usually a mix of GCR and Auto-x classes, with safety addendums to the auto-x classes. Some classes require a full cage, some allow a cross-braced roll-bar. The latter may have changed to requiring a full cage in all classes, but as far as I know, it hasn't yet.
Time trail rules are a sub-set of the GCR:

Events are usually listed in Sportscar as either HC or TT.
Some additional discussion can be found here:

While specific to Pennsylvania, the group pretty much adheres to the SCCA TT rules. One current discussion is about the fact there are so many classes as even at a well attended event (100+ cars) actual class numbers are often small.
Are there any hill climbs in the Bay Area? I don't think Nevada counts.

Thanks so much! Now I have some reading to do.
I knew I could count on GRM for the goods.
I want to get a full cage done by TC Design here in the Bay Area. Everyone says they do very good work. Should be around $2000, which I will pay with a smile on my face in exchange for a potential life saver.
I think the first year of my competition driving life will be spent do as many SCCA and BMWCCA autox events as possible. That should get my car and I performing a bit better.
Thanks again for all the help!

Hm-m-m-m. Looks like they are not affiliated with SCCA. They have their own rule book. http://www.spectre341challenge.com/rules/

In reply to geowit:
Check out the results from the 6/2011 event. Especially the last place finisher.
That looks like an interesting event, although personally I would want a TT prepped car.

From the SF bay area you pretty much have to head north and run with the northwest hillclimb association. They run Larison Rock, Bible Creek and Cascade Lakes hillclimbs in western oregon. There's also the redwood sportscar club that runs the hoopa hillclimb in western oregon as well. I used to run my old race bug at bogus basin and freeze out in idaho, both good hills.
