I like the 928, but I'd be afraid to own it. The Pontiac is cool too.

Oohhhh. That 928 would be enough to seduce me. The 5-speed 928 speaks to me.

The 928 is a very reliable automobile, and parts are cheap and plentiful.

Must be old age setting in, I look at the Jag and think of the small block Chevy swap my late uncle did to one ten years or so ago.

Nice refined car with a ton of power. Just what an old guy would want.

Wonder what one with an LS would be like compared to that old 350 swap?

I would drop that Star Chief body, as is, down on a Caprice frame!

I saw the Jag and thought LSx swap immediately too. Guess we all hang around here too damn much...

That makes 3 of us. Was any of yours backed by a manual transmission for maximum hooning?

What... are there other things to do with non-running XJ6s besides V8 swaps?

Say it with a British accent for the Jag. That era XJ isn't worth messing with. Especially in that condition. He doesnt even mention the air bag suspension that always goes wrong. There are plenty of Series 111 cars available that look better, are great swap candidates, and are easier to live with.

Using the old drive train for a D-type replica.

The 928 is probably okay, provided you swap the drivetrain into another body or gut the interior and get rid of all of the goofy broken electronics in there.

Engine is similar to a 944, just bigger. Clutch is in the back with the transaxle, which is a bit odd, comfing from 924/944's but probably easier to change than the 944's. I dunno I wouldn't be scared of one, unless it had serious internal issues with the engine.

Couldn't this be said about every single one of these ever made?

Didn't Porsche still use vacuume for EVERYTHING at that point in time on the 928? That said, I would love to have one of those cars

Is it really that difficult to change the clutch on a front engine p-car? The clutch job on a transle Alfa isn't difficult at all.

A GRM article described the procedure in a 944 as "disassemble car, replace clutch, reassemble in reverse order."

924/944 clutch change:

http://clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/clutch-01.htm

Basically it is a weekend job the first time, just like any major job.

The earlier 924's with the Porsche "snail shell" transaxles are much easier, but the procedure is more or less about the same.
