Just ran across this on Faceyspace from the tuner that did my Forte:

481Whp@ 6800 rpms, 371Wftlbs at 6700, redline at 8200. Impressive. Now, realize this is out of a 1.6L GDI-T Hyundai engine. 300hp per liter? That would be the equivalent to 720whp out of my Forte's 2.4.

I understand this is huge turbo and race fuel, but still. I knew the normal tunes on these pushed them to 220+whp with a tune only.

EDIT: 237whp, 220tq over the stock 184/209 at the wheels.

Wow... what's been done to that thing?

I believe this is a built bottom end, cams and massive turbo with meth. Maybe a little crack thrown in for good measure.

Never use the term 'crack'. That can mean bad things to engine parts.

ok, fine... a little crystal and maybe some speed. Better? At this power point with this displacemtn.... still nutso.

That's kinda the polar opposite of a broad, flat torque curve. Careful selection of gear ratios will be required.

Big numbers, though.

Agreed. Not exactly something I'd want on the street for sure. THis is the "normal" engine:

I wonder how many times that engine could reproduce that dyno run before it ceases to exist.

Good luck driving that in traffic. With today's tech every manufacturer has an engine that this can be done to. It's not like 20-30yrs ago when hondas and toyotas could make power and last forever and the US guys couldn't keep up. Turbo'ing anything today has potential for big power. Heck, back in the 80's the 22re engine powered 1000hp dragsters. And IMO that engine sucks.

That looks like it could be a plot from a high powered 70's turbo supercar. Waiting around until, BOOM! the turbo hits!

I like it!

After looking at that curve again, it reminds me of when I got to autocross an SVO back in the early '90's. Big burst of boost between 3,500 and 5,500 rpm. When not in boost is was just a heavy 4 cylinder Mustang.

Call me old and cynical here, but people have been making north of 1000whp on 2.0l 4g63s for at least a decade.

new platform, from an unkown brand, with less displacement. It's impressive.
