After purchasing Alanis, I've been smitten by this little darling. I started looking at ATS-Vs for . . . . research purposessurprisedevil

  • 8-SPD AUTOMATIC
  • RECARO PERFORMANCE SEATS LUXURY PACKAGE
  • HEADLAMPS, HID W/ AFL & LED CALIPERS, RED BREMBO SIGNATURE
  • CUE NAVIGATION SYSTEM
  • BOSE SURROUND SOUND
  • HEAD UP DISPLAY
  • WIPERS, RAINSENSE
  • LANE CHANGE ALERT
  • LANE DEPARTURE WARNING
  • HEADLAMPS, INTELLIBEAM
  • FORWARD COLLISION ALERT
  • REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
  • LANE KEEP ASSIST
  • SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT

I mean, I don't have $40k, but damn!! That's about half off in 2 years.

They were widely applauded in the press as great cars, but without the V8 they are very unloved by car guys. When these hit $25k they'll be a bargain.

Is anyone putting LS V8's into the Caddy ATS yet?

Seems like it could be a relatively straight forward swap since the ATS and latest Camaro are on the same platform

Probably, but since they have 464hp stock, I don't think I'd bother.  Plus, it's a turbo motor, so more hp is probably an ECU flash away.

I would get in line for one . . . 6MT of course.

Seems like GM designed the car for that engine, like they were leaving the potential out there as a future option.

Some day I need to get over my general dislike for sedans...

I need to drive a V, because I honestly think that the base ATS is not that great of a driver's car. Our dealership that I work for has never even gotten an ATS-V or a gen 3 CTS-V for the lot. I think it may have to do with the CTS-V wagon and 2014 SS that both hung around for 2 years before being practically given away.

What was it about the ATS that turned you off?

I have been looking at 06-09 STS. V8 AWD. I really like the look. Lots of room.  I have no idea how they drive but as a DD it looks like something I could live with.  And they don’t have the CTS V Price. These can be had for well under 10k with many that looked very nice in the 7k range.

It just feels very blah and noncommunicative. I've hustled them through turns and while it handled it, it didn't feel fun or rewarding. The ride is stiff and harsh over bumps, but doesn't feel sporty, it just beats you up. The drivelines don't exactly blow me away. They sound just okay and I don't know why you'd pay extra for the V6 when it doesn't feel any faster or different than the turbo-4. When I heard they were better than a 3 series, I was interested in driving an ATS. After driving easily a dozen of them, I have to say that if the ATS is better than the BMW 3-series, the 3-series must be like driving a dump truck.

They make an ATS coupe, so you don't have to get over anything if you don't want to.

Bought 2016 Chevrolet Silverado one year ago tomorrow and drove 31,000 miles this year.

Sticker was $41,000, paid $28,000 plus taxes and scams totaling $32,000.

KBB calls dealer trade just under $24,000.   Depreciation ROCKS!

Great truck for $28,000 - crappy truck for $41,000.

Thanks! I've heard of some feedback similar to yours.

I've been driving the Dakota, 740, and V1 CTS-V for so long, the ATS blew me away. I jumped in my E36 318is the other day and they feel similar to me. Other than the severe lack of power in the E36 and getting used to the electric steering of the ATS, they are pretty close in my book. But then again, the E36 is sorta stiff (Bilstein sports and Tokico lowering springs).

Koni FSD are available for the (non-magneride) ATS as well. Should improve both ride and handling to some degree.
