Uuuuuueeeueuruerrrf!
And the NHRA is funny about rules and turbos, so this thing could absolutely dominate until they get someone to re-write the rules who wasn't racing in nineteen diggity-two.
So I just went to the Ford Racing website. They have a CARB certified 750 hp bolt on supercharger kit for the mustang for $6595. Holy E36 M3balls.
So that kind of racing is really that popular? didn't know that.
I guess with the number of magazines dedicated to that, it should not surprise me...

Yeah, they don't understand rules. Look what they've already done to the turbos in pro mod, and look what they've done with harley. Great racing, crappy rules. I hope the program goes far, it's neat watching OEMs produce stuff like this.

As mentioned, it's an upgrade, but I believe the 525hp kit for the GT Mustangs don't even void the warranty.
But apparently the new 5.0 motor with a long-tubes, full exhaust, intake and tune will make 430whp!

Never. The 5.4/5.8 is physically wider than the front subframe rails on both cars. You would need either a fully custom tubular front end with a different suspension, or prop the motor up out of the engine bay like those dorky diecast cars.
Well once they introduced the TT Ecoboost engine we said it was only time till it was stuck onto the V8.
And Javelin this is the 5.0 not the 5.4. The block is lower on this which makes the width narrower. Not narrow mind you, but narrower than the 5.4/5.8

Well, he did say shoehorn.
I've had them out sitting side by side and yes the OHC has wider heads than the old 302. The Cobra kits had a lot of troubles fitting it in there initially but you'll notice they fit in them now. It wasn't all that big an issue once the desire was there.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
But I want the ecoboost V6 they show
365 Horsepower @ 5,000 RPM
420 lb. ft. of torque @ 2,500 RPM
All-aluminum construction
10.0:1 compression ratio
Dual overhead camshafts with variable camshaft timing
High Pressure Direct Fuel Injection
Regular Unleaded Fuel recommended
Lightweight die-cast aluminum block with six-bolt press-fit main bearing caps with piston-cooling jets
Fully counterweighted forged steel crankshaft
High-strength forged powder metal connecting rods with floating pins
Lightweight aluminum high-strength pistons with low-friction skirt coating
Tuned composite upper and lower intake manifold
Dual water cooled Honeywell/Garrett GT15 turbochargers
6 quart die-cast aluminum deep sump oil pan
Engine weight is 417 lbs. (without accessory drive)
Engine Kit Includes:

Interesting. That seems a bit heavy though. Also, will it come with hot rod style engine management or will that be another 2k like on the v8?

1) who says it's heavy? How often do we get a chance to have valid weight numbers? I keep seeing 360 or more for straight 4's
2) what I have heard is that they do have the engine management.

A 5.0 pushrod crate long block with aluminum heads is 298 lbs. Ready to bolt in it's about 380 lbs.

Source please? The best I have seen is about 450#. Add in a ~100# C4 trans, 25# converter...... That makes one light drivetrain.
In reply to Ranger50:
The source is me. I weighed mine on a certified scale at work. That did not include any accessories added to it, like the alternator, power steering pump, starter. It did include an aluminum intake, aluminum water pump, distributor and stock flywheel.
I no longer have the pictures to prove it, but the 351 I had in the Cobra weighed in excess of 500#. It had alum heads and intake manifold and carb, but didn't have the alternator, clutch, or power steering pump.
IIRC it was 560#, but in any case it was over 500#.
It put out a little more horsepower than the V6 in question but not as much torque and it definitely didn't have as wide a power band as the V6.
