Team Stampie is home safe and sound.
Traffic Alert - I-95 NB in SC the left lane is closed at the Great Pee Dee River bridge (mile marker 174). This is about 20 miles south of the NC/SC border (north of Florence, SC where it is only 2 lanes) if anyone is going this way.
Did not attend the challenge so I don't know if anyone is heading back this way
Stopped just north of the loop in Atlanta for an early lunch. Traffic is a mess right here, and berkeley Atlanta drivers.
About 6 hours to Lexington, and another 1.5-2 to Cincinnati.
Challenged MINI Salvage is home in SW Florida. Pretty easy 3.5 hour drive south. MINI and teardrop trailer performed great.
Loved seeing street-driven Challenge cars, as well as some interesting tow vehicles.
Made it home about noon, Seth should be home around 7pm.
Driving through the Michael aftermath was a bit surreal. Although there’s not much to see from I-10, as most of that area is heavily wooded, I’m sure glad I wasn’t in the middle of it. If it had tracked a bit further east Tallahassee would have received the worst of it.
Also, gas is $3/gal on either side, with only some stations having a supply & lines at all of them.
Ashyukun and I made it to his place a bit after 6:30, and I made it home a bit before 9. Time to plan for next year!
Made it home around 9:30 last night. Had a minor mishap on the way home. The pin to hold the trailer ramp in place disappeared mid trip.
We held it on with the keychain from the Q45.
Left the hotel at 5:15 AM Sunday (there were three state troopers hiding on the ramp to I-75),arrived home at 10:20, and crawled into my bed in Dexter, Michigan at 11:00PM 1060 miles later. MINI Coopers do travel well.
yep, made it home about 8:30 last night - caught the kids just before they went to bed (they did stay up for me), ate dinner, and passed out.
I had about 15 hours of 'thinking time' by myself yesterday. But I haven't posted my thoughts yet.
You guys will probably be inundated by my musings by end of day today.
