Can an automatic Civic Wagovan 4wd system be converted to run a manual trasmission? May be a dumb question, which means I am a dummy, but I'll ask just the same. What would it take to convert it if it can be done? Thanks guys and gals.

Many came with manual trannys, but I haven't seen one in years. However, there is one in a field with an auto tranny, and I wondered if it could be converted to manual, and how.
You'll probably need a manual tranny, pedal assembly, clutch, flywheel and all the associated little parts. I have not done this before but it should be straight forward if you have a donor car. The tranny will be the hard part because the 4WD ones were specific to the wagons and a basic Civic gearbox will not work.
Ages ago Honda Tuning magazine attempted to convert an Integra to AWD using a CRV based setup. They ran into a lot of trouble, but they did eventually have an Integra on the cover throwing rooster tails from the rear wheels. Of course, this was back when they were also shoving an NSX engine in the back of an EF hatchback among other crazy projects. Now they might as well put H-T in the fashion magazine section. (Look! We put a front lip spoiler on a TSX! ZOMG!!! And this guy has a JDM ash tray in his ride, yo!)
Anywho, you might want to google "wagon attack" and see if the guy who made those videos has any tech info on a forum somewhere, he's running a boosted AWD 4th gen wagon. The depths of my mind keep wanting to say that the rear diff and axles can't handle much power at all, I think I read it somewhere.
I've also seen DSM AWD swaps onto CRXs and EFs, 4G63 and everything.
This was a build on Honda-Tech.

I used the drivetrain from an 88 civic wagon. we cut the trailing arms in half from the CRX and wagon then we overlayed them and weleded them up. the car can be daily driven but with only a cherry bomb its kinda loud. Im sure ive left out some things so feel free to ask any questions either mesage me on here or call me 509 674 8826 name is Matt. Price is $5000 OBO i would possibly be interested in some partial trades let me know what ya got and we can go from there. thanx willing to sell it without the engine tranny and turbo kit. here is a link to the full build with tons of pics and info http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2060180
I have a good bit of knowledge about this as my Lemons car is a 4WD wagovan, and I've been driving them on and off since 1995.
For an auto to manual swap you need all of the usual transmission swap things: Trans, axles, ECU, shifter w/linkage, pedal assembly, clutch, flywheel and all the associated little parts.
The manual transmission cars are out there, and you have a good chance of finding a completely rusted out one in the northeast. Mine was too rusty to be a street car, so we made it a lemons car. The transmission is very different from other Civic transmissions, not only the 4WD bit, but it is also the only Civic transmission to use a cable shift linkage, all other Civics/Integras use rod linkage.
