Honda seatbelt systems are covered by a lifetime warranty.
If yours are unable to retract, frayed, cracked, or binding, or unable to latch, any Honda dealer will swap them free of charge.

Its been this way for a long time.
Be warned that on the older belts they may only offer a single color, usually black. I put a set in a late 80s Accord about ten years ago and the owner threw a fit and threatened to sue everybody because we couldn't get tan belts.
Unfortunately, this seems to be a thing only in the US. Honda of Canada does not offer the same warranty. I paid out of pocket for a new driver's seat belt in my 99 Civic, and my 91 prelude really needs one but HoC wants $400 for one...

Hm. Does this apply to Acura "mouse motor" shoulder belts?
It's not just Honda, federal law requires seat belts to be under warranty for at least 100k, several other manufacturers will warranty them for lifetime. Once the takata airbag situation is sorted I expect the feds to require similar warranty regulations on all SRS systems, not just belts.
Chrysler handed out free seatbelts to Jeep owners for years. I got a new one in an 89 Cherokee in about 2002. Its always worth a call to the dealer, whenever you have seatbelt issues.
S5 RX7's with the automatic seat belts are covered by a lifetime replacement warranty as well.
What if it's just missing? Someone pulled the stock seat from my Civic and the stock belt with it. The harness is great but I'd love to be able to use the 3 point for road driving. It's only missing the short female end. And the seat it bolts too.....

I read somewhere possibly Hondatech only the belt is covered, but not the motors
I had them replaced in an 88 Accord coupe years ago that had the sliding ones mounted in the doors. You could grab the belt and give it a quick snatch and it would come unbuckled. The dealer told me it was because everyone unbuckled it to get out of the car when it was actually designed to never be unbuckled except for an emergency. You were just supposed to wade through the extended belt when getting in.
Anyone know if subaru does this?

I got new belts in my old '81 accord hatch. That was in 1989. I liked that car but it was turned into an accordian by a buick electra one fateful new years eve.
I just spent $400 changing some of the belts in my Dad's truck. Dogs had chewed them.

Most motor assembles were NLA from Honda for those cars. I remember ordering the last one left in the country for an 89. Part went from available to NLA in a matter of minutes.
Honda replaced one in my 89 Civic back around 1999 or so. I had a frayed belt and tried to buy a replacement. They told me that it would be free but they had to install it. The car had well more than 200k miles on it at the time.
I tried the same thing with one of my Jeeps but they said that they wouldn't cover them. I wrote to Chrysler/Jeep and mentioned that Honda covered them for life and they didn't seem to care.

It almost wants to make me get a seatbelt ticket. "Yes, your honor, I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, but they are broken and Honda no longer makes the parts to fix them."

Chrysler/Jeep doesn't even like the honor their own warranties, never mind copying someone else's!
I had heard of this, I need to find out if Volvo does this or not.
