The only Kia related issue I've seen is a customer at work had her 15 soul in to be looked at several times and they couldn't find an issue according too them. She said it was down on power and had a cam to crank position correlation code. She had to hire a lawyer to get the car repaired. Ended up being a wiring issue (this was like 2016)

However my dad who's a lifelong Chevy and VW guy purchased a 2015 optima with a manual transmission brand new because all of Chevy's offerings dissapointed him and it's 4 years and 2 body repairs into it's life and has been fantastic. Anyone I know shopping used or CPO small cars I recommend Kia be added too the list. I'm a Ford guy but if I was shopping a new daily that's were I would look.

Good car for the money. My family has had 4 Hyundai's. First was a 2000 Elantra bought because we needed an inexpensive 2nd car. SWMBO drove it for a couple years and passed it down to our daughter. She tried to kill it as she didn't like the plain white 4-door mom-mobile. Didn't die and she traded the car in on an 04 Tiburon GT. She loved that car, took all her abuse and wouldn't die. Family situation changed (2 kids) so she traded it in on a 12 Tuscan. SWMBO has a 10 Sonata. Both started to have fair wear and tear for the age, normal wear out of some parts like the alternator and starter. Daughter wanted something a bit bigger so she traded it in on an Acura MDX or RDX I forget which one is the bigger one. SWMBO still has the Sonata but we're getting a bit tired of the cheap interior bits falling apart so looking to trade it in on something soon. SWMBO would be happy with another Sonata but I want to get her something nicer. Sonata has over 100k and still running strong. Needs center storage latch, currently held closed with a large hair band and a drivers sun visor which just flops around and won't stay up. IMO, drivetrain is very good and will last but the cheap interior bits are what will break. I do understand why they went with the cheap interior trim and price reflects that. Don't have any experience with the newer (than 2012) models though.

I know this is different, but a guy I play hockey with just traded his Maserati Ghibli in on a Kia Stinger. He loves the Kia way more than the Maserati. 15 year old Chris thinks he made a dumb mistake, but 44 year old Chris knows he made an excellent decision.

Wait, what?  They felt an Avalon rode too rough?

Friend of mine just bought his third Camry.. he loved the first two to the tune of almost 300,000 miles each. He HATES the new one. He says it reminds him of his escort gt he had back in 1990

I have a feeling this is a very common complaint among people of a certain age.  My uncle has an Avalon, and that was his one criticism.  He was investigating the possibility of swapping out the tires with something with a taller sidewall.

I currently have a Hyundai Tucson small SUV on rental and have put about 1200 miles of a 2500 mile trip. I’m not impressed. Was supposed to get a Ford Escape. Tucson has an extremely rough ride, uncomfortable seating and all it has to do is see a slight incline or hill and it starts downshifting, up shifting then downshifting again. Mileage hasn’t been bad at about 30 on interstate but being such a small engine thought it might be better. Can’t tell you anything about the cars

I might consider a Kia Soul for next ride since its one of the few hatchbacks left with manual option. cool

The worst part of the car is the dealer. They still act like they're selling Excels to folks with lousy credit.

In that vein, now that Genesis has been spun off into it's own brand. Will Genesis dealers be handling the older Genesis cars or will it still be the same generally miserable Hyundai experience we have around here which completely negates my desire to buy a Korean car?
