...because I just spelunked down a wad of Jefferson's on them. . . . .275/40/17 and 315/35/17's...
They've been great on my supercharged Miata, just need to get a little temperature into them when its raining/wet

17x9 and 17x10.5 FR500 wheels on my 1996 Mustang Cobra.

I don't think noise will be a problem with the long-tube headers, catless H-pipe, Flowmaster 40's, and downturns...
Good information on the wet traction though, I am nervous about that. I almost went with the NT555G2 for the better wet grip.
Any user experience with them regarding hard track use? Especially on a FWD track car? How quickly will they overheat/grease up, etc.? (Assume the car is driven correctly and the tires are used at their limits, but not over driven/overheated) Anyone?
Never did get any opinions on how the NT-05 does as a track tire. Anyone out there with direct experience?
I've done one track day with NT05s on a C4 Corvette. I was very pleased. It was very hot at Sebring and the tires never went away. I didn't notice much performance drop off from the NT01s I'm used to running on my M3. They do make a little more noise on track than the NT01s but I like to know what the tires are doing so I don't mind.
I really like the fact that I can drive to the track on the NT05s and I don't have to lug track only wheels and tires to the track.

Good to hear! Would you describe their turn-in response and mid-corner precision? Say, compared to ZII Star Spec/RE-71R on the quick but-peaky end and Rival/R1R on the less-quick-but-more forgiving end.
I don't have any experience with the other tires to compare. They were a lot better then the RE-11 (old spec) I had after them though. I had to run almost 45psi hot to get the RE-11s to not feel like they were falling over compared to the NT-05s. I ran the NT-05s at 40psi hot and they were great.
