Considering a Superior Track T with IFS and an SBC, could I even autoX one of these?
I would assume some kind of rollbar. Dunno what class they'd be in.
I'm on the lookout for a stalled TCI bucket t project.
If the chassis is tube, you could always try running it in a mod class. The typical small block hot rod/street rod would probably end up in A-mod because of displacement.
Just look at your club's old event results...figure that you will be classed where ever the cobra replicas and lotus seven clones went. Also, look for non-SCCA events...NASA or marque-clubs like the local Jaguar club or Porsche club. They tend to be more open to oddball cars.
X-Prepared or A-Modified are pretty much the catch-all classes if you want to run something with little regard to the rules. That car might qualify for E-Mod as well.
Despite the archaic nature of the Solo rules, they are still car guys - especially at the local level. If want to run something odd, they'll find a place for you given adequate safety concerns.
Why not a V8 more sideways fun, But a boosted four cylinder might be fun.

E-Mod may be possible. I seem to recall the yellow "Jeep" that's currently running was entirely scratch built and doesn't have any actual Jeep parts in it anywhere.
I have some friends that have autoX'd similar cars. The long wheelbase can make it difficult to get through the tight stuff at times.

I didn't know that Del Long's "jeep" was in E. I think his locost used to be D-mod. I was assuming this would be classed the same
(and yes, you're correct. This article says he's running it as an E-Mod car.)
Yeah, I knew for sure it's in E-Mod, running against the dominating roto-Sprite. I wasn't 100% sure about the construction, but it seems my memory was correct there as well (no Jeep bits).
If I'm ever in a position to build a Challenge car, it'll likely be with an eye on the E-Mod ruleset.
The Speedway Motors kit warms my cockles, and you can pick it up right at Solo II Nats.

Wow, with that kind of price, one would expect some not finished kits out there could sell for challenge prices....
