This is by far the best compromise I've ever heard

When do you plan on selling it?

is this why all new cars seem to come in silver and beige?

TDF is a good example of color having a effect in the market in the short term. Not 18 months ago it was the color to have for resale even more the red/tan in the 430 market. Then it retreated and the usual colors came back into vogue.

It passes as a bit of a fad and now the traditional colors are up again. The pearl white I think is going to be the color to have on the 458 but my lord are there a lot of red and black ones out there so that is what everybody buys. Similar to the grey/black 550 coupes.

I, for one, love orange cars. If you are going to order one new, order whatever color you like best. I wouldn't worry about resale. Supercars are rare enough that, when you're ready to sell, you'll find someone out there desperately searching for that color.

As an example (granted it's not a super car), I would love to find an e9x M3 in "Fire Orange". It's a rare factory color and looks awesome IMO. The fact that there are so few of them means they command a premium when they pop up used. Here's a pic:

Also, it seems like folks have no issue with Lambos in off the wall colors:
