I love the sound of a flat 6
Everyone is getting a 911 (you know what I mean, it's still a 911). I want a 911. It's almost becoming an addition to the GRM trifecta. Quadrupa? I really want one.
And as previously mentioned.....that's scruffy?
That looks pretty nice.
At least you found one in a decent color (read: non-red). Everything else including price was right about it when I bought mine but I have never warmed up to the guards red.
I have had mine for 4 years and put some long trips, track days and just general commuting. I love the damn thing despite it being a PIA to work on and it's ability to shred thru expensive rear max performance summer tires at an alarming rate.
You got some nice-to-haves in that deal too - Momo steering wheel, 17" 993 wheels and RSA mirrors look good. Anything else? If you like the sound now - get rid of the secondary muffler (big ass one on the pass side) and it will really make nice noises.
It's funny, I don't mind the wheels, but Mrs. Nansenv makes a less than subtle gagging sound whenever we're discussing them. She was disappointed to hear that Fuchs don't fit.... I was surprised at the grip levels the car offers on its current all-season tires.
I'm not sure what other nuggets I'm going to find. It is a grey market/ROW car, from Japan originally, then LA, and it's been owned the past 6 years by someone here in Toronto.
I definitely hope to remove the secondary muffler- I was surprised when I heard just how restrictive the OE exhaust is.
Advance Auto sells galvanized drip pans that are about 2'x3'. They fit nicely between the rear wheels. Get one.
Good tip! :) I was fairly happy to see only a quarter sized stain on the driveway after two days.
In other news: anyone have an ABS computer for a C4 kicking around?

Mine only has one drip - from the oil hose that loops down thru tin foil at the rear of the motor. It only drips after getting it really hot - and only one or two drops. I cannot find the damn source. Both ends of that hose are dry. It drives me crazy. One of these days I'm going to pull the damn motor over this.
One of mine was completely dry until I switched to synthetic. I'm not sure if switching back will make a difference at this point.

Speaking of which - do any of you guys know if there is there a high zinc additive I can dump in my Mobil1 15w50 to stop the 911 Priests and preachers from calling me a heathen for not shelling out top $ for Brad Penn? Do I even give a crap if my valve guides wear out in 280k miles instead of 310k?
It seems insane to use dino oil that breaks down in high heat conditions and cokes up in really hot ones when modern synth shrugs at the temps of an air cooled motor doing track duty.
In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
Rotella T6 (a decent synth oil) + one quart of Comp Cams Break-In-Oil?

How about using lubromoly oil instead? The 10w-40 is supposed to be good for old engines. I used the Brad Penn oil in my Alfa once, it wasnt that expensive (~$4 per quart), but when I drained the oil it was full of what appeared to be shiny metal bits. I switched to lubromoly oil after that and the car was fine (and the oil looked fine) for the rest of the time i had it.
They all leak. A 911 motor that isn't leaking isn't being used correctly...
Mine currently leaks at the external thermostat that runs to the hard lines that run to the front cooler. And just recently started leaking from somewhere about mid-case underneath. I need to crawl under and investigate that one, but since it just kicked over 221,000 miles this week I'm sure there are lots of things I probably need to look at.
Nice score on the C4, I'd love to have one of those as my DD. But my wife keeps saying the next Porsche is hers. I sure do love that woman...
