To replace the Civic as a daily driver with a used XJ8?

I don't know... Try it and tell us how it works out??

Well, I bet it would be fun the first couple of days as you apply your familiar control inputs at your familiar on-ramps and stuff....

There was a week of my life when I needed to drive my '65 Mustang because the Civic wasn't running. Not sure I'd want to try it year round though. I don't think that an XJ8 would be all that hard to live with.

How far is it work? Can you walk there 'when' your ride is down?

8 miles but I would still have the truck and the Civic.

Double back up and you still need to ask the questions

Just do it. I don't even know you personally, but you've mentioned on the forum many, many times that you'd like an XJ. You also talk about your lack of love for the Honda.

Just.

Do.

It.

You'll either come out of the experience with a new appreciation for the Honda, or you'll find that you were right and you actually love the Jaguar ownership experience.

Carpe diem, or, if you're retarded... YOLO.

The Honda is a love hate relationship. I love it enough that I don't want to sell it but it rattles like hell and has 8 million little problems in other words it would be prefect for a fun car/ autocross car.

Really the think that is kinda making me pause is the 15 mpg city on premium.

For some reason this statement reminds me of a quote about debt consolidation.

"tired of being berkeleyed by a thousand tiny cocks? Let us trade all those in for one giant cock!"

...and you drive 16 miles back and forth to work... even at 15 mpg on premium you'd spend less on gas than I spend on diesel with a car getting 50 mpg...

Hell, if I worked 8 miles from home I'd be riding a bike most days...

Honestly I wish I felt safe enough on the roads from my place to work to ride a bike.

I know that if I lived 8 miles from work, I'd be driving anything I damn well want to.

What's the worst that could happen? You show up 2 hours late to work and have to say, "Sorry I'm late. I got stranded on the side of the road... in my Jaaaaag."

Get a AAA membership or see if your insurance offers a roadside assistance program.

I've been towed home twice this year, and its pretty nice to have a backup plan when the daily craps out.

Broken down on the side of the road in a Jag is 1000x more comfortable than a running and driving Civic.... just sayin'.

If the Honda is properly maintained…. it would be the closest thing to automotive perfection.
Theoretically…. it should never fail. Some cars are better, but not many.

I like your sense of adventure, dump the Honda and live on the wild side.

Thinking the same thing.

Edit: This is coming from someone that despises Jaguars.

Pimp that and the civic will look like a go kart that is dying.

I've recently rediscovered how incredible it is to drive a car you love. Going to the store is fun. Driving the kids to school is fun. Moving the car in the driveway is fun. If you can drive something that makes you feel like that, then you should.

Even if it's dead in your driveway, an XJ still bestows your home with an air of class that a Civic could never match :D

I've been daily driving a 2001 XJR since 2006 (except I used my Cougar for winters and for mountain biking, trips to Home Depot etc) and can't think of a single reason not to use an XJ8 as a DD.
