My friend bought a $700 280zx-T and it started rod knocking right after it he did an oil change.

We pulled it apart and all the bearings are wiped out, and the #6 bearing on the crank was destroyed. I can get some pics later.

But bottom line is my friend needs it done cheap as possible.

I suggested new bearings, ARP rod bolts, OEM headgasket and some gaskets.

He keeps wanting to do ARP main studs and head studs. I think he can get by reusing them. I know its not ideal but this motor just has to last a few weeks until he gets some more money from a medical study. He also might get 2 cheap l28's from his brother if he buys these other 280z's.

He has a spare 2.8L crank from his 280z. And the rods and pistons from it. So hes good there. Hes just trying to keep everything under $250-$300 for now. I Figure changing the head studs later is easy enough and will keep him under budget for now.

My guess is that for $250-300 you can probably find a motor on Craigslist to throw into his car until he re-builds the other one. Or a rusty parts car that you can sell off and make some money on.
