Sometimes in the last few months Row52.com got bought by the national chain Pick'n pull.

Where Row52 used to show vehicle inventory at many SSJY across the country, it now only shows inventory at PnP branded yards, approx 50 across the entire USA.

Is there an alternative online service to search cars in SSJY?

This has torpedoed my plans to spend the day after Xmas window shopping at the local yards, for an aluminum LS, a t-bird diff, BMW frt knuckles, random small Mercedes, Volvo, Toyota parts ...crying

Is the national chain Pick'n pull you're referring to LKQ Pick Your Part? If so, then I have nothing. I used LKQ to find the head for my Audi, though, and I was successful in finding a car with the right engine exactly where they said it would be.

Nope.  Two separate chains.

Never heard of row52, is it better than (or, I guess, was it?) car-part.com?

It used to just list vehicle inventory for pick-n-pull type yards. No specific parts, just YMM and one photo. It was nice since you could set up alerts to see when specific cars came into yards but most of the smaller local yards I go to weren't on there before anyway so I didn't use it much.

I didn't realize that some of the JY that LKQ has bought are still SSJY.

They can be searched at:

https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/

Though Row52 has PnP inventory on it, the website for searching Pick n Pull directly is:

https://www.picknpull.com/

Otherwise, you have to check individual yards to see if they have searchable inventory on their website.

None of the self-serve yards here inventory anything. They just toss 'em out there and you have to hope they have the cars you seek.

Car-Part.com is only for yards that mostly cater to repair shops, and the prices are higher as a result.

Car-part yards notably pick the parts *for* you, IME, which is presumably what drives up the price.
