Disclaimer, I have no intention of doing this, I just wonder how to go about it properly.
Lets say I was going to put a nitrous system on a DOHC neon. Criteria, small shot of NOS as it will retain factory internals that had been "freshened UP" with the 100k work.
The unknown, system type(dry/wet/extra fuel lines), other peices, like improved ignition, fuel delivery improvements and such.
So how do I do it without killing the engine the first time it gets juice.
For a small shot? A dry shot system should be fine. You could easily get away with keeping everything else stock.
Are you sure you have no intention of doing this?
There have been some neon owners that have had success with (staged) wet systems of more than 125hp with the stock bottom end. Tuning is critical. :)

Google "rental neon nos" and click the second result.
be careful of the welds on your intake manifold and be sure to double clutch
well... 95% sure I won't end up doing this.
and the rental story was with a single cam, wow

forget the intake manifold, it's the floor pan you really need to be worried about.

HAHA ... That crappy movie will live in our memories forever!!

150 wet shot with a little dedicated tank of E85 will solve all of your HP problems!
I'm asuming that was a line from F&F. Glad I have never seen it
edit how complicated is a wet system, and how will the rest of the drivetrain hold up?
Wet systems with a separate tank are very, very easy to setup. Zex has a great customer service line that can explain everything.
Basically you want to use the nitrous without going lean. If the factory fuel system can handle it a dry shot is the simplest way to go. Making a system wet is just adding more fuel, either by drawing off of the car's current fuel tank/pump/lines with another solenoid loop or by having a dedicated underhood tank, usually of alcohol for the cooling properties.
If you really want to get serious about learning, pick up some Car Craft issues and a nitrous book.
Well, I have a subscription to car craft starting Jan '04 and it is good thrue Dec. '11. Time to browse those again.
But it's not as cool as GRM.

Which will bring you to this very thread, or at least it did for me.

One of the greatest builds and Test & Tune articles ever written.
The ZEX "dry" kit worked really well on our CRX. I think we ran a 65 shot. We crushed the FPR with a socket for more pressure. Make sure you use good plugs. NGK's seemed to work best for us. Bosch platinums...not so much Anyway, the motor has 180,000 miles, has made countless nitrous passes, and still runs like a top. Your results may vary.

OK, so through the power of GRM and Google it's now the first link :)
"Nitrous" please. Nitrous Oxide Systems is a producer of nitrous injection systems owned by Holley. Unless you intend to increase your HP by injecting a corporation into your engine...
Sorry, one of my pet peeves.
On topic, I beat the crap out of my 1.6l miata with a 75 shot for about 50k miles. I was getting my nitrous refilled at about the same frequency as gasoline lolz. It was a pretty hack job dry setup with cold plugs, the timing turned back a few degrees, horn button wired to the solenoid, and nothing else. The stock 150k mile clutch couldn't hold the shot past third gear and first was just hilarious. 3k rpm in first + WOT + horn = instant sideways with lots of smoke (some of the smoke even came from the tires lol stupid rich when spraying).
