I drove to Kansas City (from STL) with my brother on Saturday to pick up yet another Mazda 626 turbo. This one is really special...An '89 5-door, gray on gray, with 93k on it. It is like a time capsule. Bizarrely, the center console box was full of dubbed cassettes with hand-written dates on them, all between 1989 and 1990 (I listened to Wilson Phillips on the way home, for the lulz). It is beautiful underneath that dirt. Never hit, no rust, shiny paint, always garaged. (I'll get better pics up soon). I'm so stoked about this thing!
F2T...Forever.
Somewhere, Swank is smiling.
Every time you buy a 626, I want a 626.
I am shocked that the 27+ year old tapes didn't shed their iron oxide all over the rollers as soon as the capstans started turning. Like what happened to me when I tried to play some 20 year old college radio recordings.
Man that thing looks nice.. congrats
Congrats! I was working on my F2T mobile today :) How much did that set you back, i fyou don't mind me asking? I've only seen one for sale anywhere near me and it wasn't nearly as nice but the price was under $1k if I remember correctly.

Jesus mother Mary of unicorns. You've hit the holy grail. I hope you plan to keep it forever, because I want it bad and would do unscrupulous things to excess in order to own that.
Wow, I'd forgotten how much those cars looked like a Taurus. :)
Plz more pix, it looks exactly like the one I had around 99. Great car! F2t love.
So unmolested, you've done well sir.
5 door, the lust is real.
I knocked most of the dirt off at the car warsh but I still need to give it a proper cleaning and detail.

I paid $2,500 for it.
Here's the way the math works in my brain:
In 1997 my parents were nice enough to buy me an '89 MX6 GT with 97k on it for $6,400. Now, if you adjust $6,400 for inflation, it is equivalent to $9,500 in today's dollars. So since this 626 has less miles on it than my MX6 did 20 years ago, that must mean I'm getting $9500 worth of automobile for $2,500. What a deal!
(I know that's not really how it works :))

No, that is exactly how it works. "Alternative facts" ftw!
I wish the transmission in my '88 hadn't been such a crap situation all around. I really liked that car and I think it's easily the best of the six or so cars I've owned.
Great car. That is a lot of car for the money. I used to have a 5 dr in the same color, though mine wasn't a GT. I loved that car, it was bullet proof.

Cool. The non-turbo cars are fine cars as well. The power is "adequate" but I really enjoy the way they drive. They are different animals compared to the turbo cars, in a good way. An LX 626 with a probe rear sway bar, poly end-links, and a decent set of wheels and tires is a great way to get around.

Several people have already asked me to let them know if I ever sell it. But I'm going to keep this one as long as I can.

I have the best reason for not being (very) jealous.. I own an 88 626 GT 5dr 5spd. This one definitely looks nicer, though! Interior pics?

I didn't know you had that. I'll try to get some interior shots up. Seems like all my free time is when it's dark outside.
