In the crawl they have they "announced" the winner of the German GP. WTF. WHo did this? It's not like they are scooping a result on a different network. FOC owns Speed, and is going to broadcast the race at noon. And now Speed announced the winner of a competition to be broadcast by the network that OWNS them. That's really encouraging viewership. I saw the winner, realized what I was reading, and clicked the remote. Yes, I'll watch the race, but, really WTF. It it was goiing to be on ESPN, TNT, etc...I can understand. But, hey, thanks a lot, Speed. I'm sure you just lost some viewers, which I'm sure the advertisers on FOX will be thrilled about. Yes, I'm ranting, and throughly pissed off. I'll watch NHRA on ESPN2 tonight, but be really careful not to see it's announcement on the crawl, as I normally do. But to "scoop" the results on a program you're owner is about to broadcast. E-mailing all the advertisers. Thanks for letting me rant. UGHHH...

The folks at Fox who make the decision to show F1 on tape delay rather than live on Speed deserve to be water boarded.

Fox seems to think that Americans need to see some sort of racing after noon on Sunday, regardless of when it took place. They are discounting the intelligence of F1 fans. I'd rather Google the results at 10:15 than wait two more hours to waste another two to find out what already happened. I have better things to do on my day off.

They'll get more viewers by showing it at Noon Eastern time. More viewers means it's easier to sell advertising space. I've got no problem with that.

I "watched" it on my iPhone app this morning, and I'm watching it now.

I recorded it and watched it. I don't care that I don't see it live. It was still a decent race.

I don't care that it was taped; but to announce WHO won before the network you own is going to show it? That's what burns me.

DOH!!!!! I haven't watched it yet!

Disclaimer: I have already watched the entire race and the preceding was just a poor attempt at humor. Watching F1 on Fox may cause drowsiness, extreme aggression, thoughts of suicide and in rare instances premature death. Viewers are reminded to watch at their own risk.

Actually they have the same announcers as SPEED this year so it's much better than in the past.

The people who run Fox are what I like to call "Ruiners". They ruin things for other people. They did it to Firefly, and pretty much everything else AWESOME that Joss Whedon makes. Really it's no surprise that they would do the same to F1. They're sadists.

Ah, ya got me!

Last year it was the same team as used on Speed, BUT, it seemed as if they were reading a script, and coverage began moments before the opening lap. It really was all you describe. Maybe all the carping and moaning has worked, since they now have some pre- and post-race coverage.

When they televised the marathon Canadian washed-out/red flagged, restarted race this year, they did break into Speed's normal broadcast to show the entire race. So, they are better this year. Still, I'd like to see the entire post race interviews, a few more highlights--like why was a ferrari driver sitting on another car getting a ride back to the pits after the end of the race? We saw only one quick shot of that in the closing credits. Speed would have been better.

I can hear the ease in the announcers voices when they're on Speed than when they're on Fox. Especially Hobbs; Matchett gets to go on at length technically--which I enjoy--Varsha becomes more witty, and they all seem to be enjoying themselves more. All goes back to normal next weekend. No more Fox, F1 is back to Speed.

That's what I was trying to do! For example, when the NHRA logo popped up in the crawl, hand went up so I couldn't see the crawl, or hit the remote for a couple of minutes. The ALMS race, I can't watch it live, now, on ESPN3--computer problem--but I'll see it tonight at 10pm on ESPN2. Will I watch Speed's roundup of the weekend(whatever they call it now), or Windtunnel? No. Has Speed ever done this with a fox broadcast later in the day? NO. So, my bad for being caught off guard by something new--and stupid by the network.

I watched the final 10 or so laps streaming online. Meh. Not interesteing.

I did finally get to watch ALMS on Espn3.com and was happy to get the feed. Go Corvette!

What Fox discounting the intelligence of its viewers??!!! If its not black and white its not fair and balanced.

I don't get why they even show F1 on Fox as opposed to letting Speed take care of it, regardless of how NASCAR-centric Speed has become, their F1 coverage is still miles ahead of Fox

100% on the Fox comment, petemc5355!

I enjoyed, and thought the F1 race was pretty good---kinda like tennis, it's the totality that often counts, not the last 5 minutes. GP2, on the other hand: World of Outlaws on a road course! Doesn't matter when you tune in, it's gonna be wild.

Watched the ALMS race on ESPN2 at 10pm. No, it wasn't the entire race, they did cut out about 20 minutes, but, not bad, and really aggressive driving on The Fastest Road Course in North America. (record held by diesel Audi). Very good stuff. The Muscle Milk sponsored prototype was awesome! Who knew the BMW GT could run so fast with the more aerodynamic Porsches on that circuit?

That was after watching the NHRA Mile High Nationals. The Force is still with him!

And the guys who ran at the Rolex race at NJ, good stuff, too--especially in that heat (Nice to see grass instead of last year's clouds of sand). Although the decision on one of the Mazda teams to run without the drivers having cool suits was, I think, short sighted.

The look on the one driver they almost had to drag out of the car at the end of his stint: he looked like he just came from a prolonged stay at Devil's Island prison. I know they did it because of the "weight limit", but he looked like he was on his way to serious heat stroke. Not just exhaustion.

Yes, I'm a racing junkie. And it was a hot weekend, and the funds are really low now, so, TV ruled. And also watched Walter White deal with his "problems".Great series! Strong coffee was my friend, too. But I digress.

Hungary F1 next weekend! I have no interest in stick and ball sports at all. Although I do watch the superbowl--mostly for the commercials, although the last one did have a good game, too. And I watch The Masters. America's Cup racing is #2 behind auto racing!

The Fox broadcasts are exactly that. You can watch it without having cable/satellite, etc... With Speed you need that equipment. Trying to lure in some of those non-cable/satellite viewers, I'd imagine. They've done this even when there's been a NASCAR Cup race on the same day. So they didn't do it because Cup had an off weekend.

True F1 fans want to know the results in real time; poseurs seem to wait for delayed coverage or make pitiful, inane comments on the viewers intelligence.
