What year for the Supra should I be looking for?
93+
Also known as the Mark IV or MkIV.
Will have a 2JZ-GTE under the hood. The 7MGTE in the Mark III (87?-92) is junk compared to the 2JZ.
Be prepared to dig DEEEP into your wallet for a clean Mark IV though.

I've heard the 7MGTE is good headgasket and head stud kit away from being a reliable monster: seriously underrated.
Jeff wrote: Thanks for the great suggestions so far. I'm looking for newer with fewer mods. This will be a nice weather daily driver and HPDE/track day car (about 1-2 a month). If I'm honest with myself, I like a car that needs fewer mods. Yes projects are nice, and I will have those (might even keep the MINI for that), but it's nice to jump in a car, have a comfortable morning drive to the track, and then start driving like you stole it. There is a CTS-V with just over 100K KM for under $20k near me. I think I need to take a look.
Keep in mind that these things are gonna go FAST on track. I've got a buddy with a C5Z06 who, after taking it out on Road Atlanta, started looking for a club racer. He said that the Z06 was just WAY to fast to be out there without a cage.

This is correct info. A 7mgte car will put out just about 90% the power a 2jz car will, for maybe 20% the purchase price or less.
There is an '87 Supra with 90K on the clock, claimed to be owned by a Toyota employee (they have a big facility in ON), claimed to have the engine redone by a Toyota certified master mechanic (including head gasket), for $4000 OBO. It's Targa, which means it's a flexible flyer, but might be worth a look.
There are also several Nissan and Toyota JDM products available. Anyone have a link to some good info on JDM stuff?
This looks fun.

What are the boxes in the last picture? I always get nervous with wired in stuff. The Neon I owned had an after market alarm (because riced Neons are such a huge target) installed by the previous owner. That was fun.

It's not RWD, but 350hp shouldn't be a problem for it. You can get damn near that with bolts ons with that car.
Looks like it's got updated headlights, too. And that C-One front strut brace isn't cheap, either.
As for the boxes... i'm not real sure. The black one looks like it might be an HKS box of some sort, but i'm not positive. Eurolight, don't know either.
I wouldn't worry about it too much...the car looks to be in incredible shape.
(Speaking about the ST205)

Whoop whoop, fanboi alert, whoop whoop. I'd be curious to see your recipe for doing that, as I'd disagree. Plus, owning a alltrac would scare me a lot more than a CTS-V.

It's not an AllTrac. We only got the relatively E36 M3ty 1st and 2nd gen 3sgtes over here.
This is a 3rd gen 3sgte. More agressive cams, much MUCH better turbo, and a motor that ranged from 245-255hp stock, vs. the 190-200 that we got here. It's also MAP-based instead of the E36 M3ty MAF-based we got here. Which means it'll actually run right more than 2 days out of the week.
540cc injectors stock, gets rid of that tvis bullE36 M3, a very-well designed water-to-air intercooling system.
With a 4" intake, boost controller, and a free flowing exhaust, Berk, ATS, and others have put out numerous dyno sheets showing 320whp or more. Which... is quite a bit more than 350hp to the crank.
Did i say you were breaking 350whp with that turbo? No. But the operative word was "damn near."
If we want to consider a turbo as a "bolt on," those motors can, will, have, and will again make well over 400whp without opening them.
Interestingly, the 3sgte in the later Caldinas will make even more.
Spent all weekend thinking about pirouetting that car around on gravel roads . Not what I originally posted about but I'm going to check it out this week.
Like the 2nd poster said. M5 3rd gen will meet your posted reqs. but dont pass over the 1st and 2nd gen. More fun with 4 doors than you will see in a cts-v. can be hard to find though but worth it.

Do you live in Ontario? You do realize you CAN NOT get insurance in Ontario or QC on right hand drive vehicles, and most (if not all) insurers have been dropping coverage on anyone who previously had a rhd vehicle insured with them?
Educate yourself: jdmvip.com (a western-centric forum, but many people from all over the world and eastern Canada). Some guy literally sold an STi that he poured metric berkeley-tons of money into and only owned it for like 6 months or less because nobody besides facility would insure him.
E39 M5.
Not the cheapest car to maintain but a decent one will be about $25k USD, and it's got 400 horsepower.
