How much lighter is the aluminum FW? IIRC, the new one I put on that thing only weighed 13 or 14lbs.
Oh... and I still want to drive that thing again sorted out. Did you ever put decent tires on it?

It's a 12 lb Fidanza, but now I'm wondering if it's worth it. I thought the stocker was around 20 lbs. I have some new hankooks to go on, but haven't got them on yet because I have the trans out (long story). I hope to have it back together by the end of August and you're more than welcome to drive it anytime you're in the area!
So now I guess I'll weigh the flywheels and decide what to do. The fidanza was only $303 shipped, but that's not worth it to save two pounds.
Do you remember which flywheel you went with?
Y'all caught me trying to disguise my own insecurity and now I don't know how to deal with these feelings.
If you need me, I'll be in my spray tan booth.

If I remember correctly it was a parts house replacement I bought from a guy on Corvette forums. It was still new in the box and sealed in the plastic bag coated with the packing grease. IIRC, it only cost me $50 shipped. I had put it on the shipping scale here at work and was suprised at how light it was but that's obviously been a while. I know it was only a couple pounds heavier than the stock Elantra flywheel, and those were 13lbs stock (on the same shipping scale. Damn, I've been here too long.)
You really need to do a short "rebuild of a previous build from some other dude" thread on this thing. I'm curious how much more you found and how much of my stuff you had to redo. I know it wasn't perfect by a long shot but it was headed in the right direction at least.

man now I'm really on the fence with the flywheel. I got a good deal on the fidanza, so could get my money back on it. I'm just not sure the ~4lbs difference would be worth it.
I definitely plan on doing an update thread once the car is dynoed. You were off to a great start with the car and I'm happy I was able to get it off you. The tune made an incredible difference once I got it dialed in, which is how I found out the car wanted more fuel, so swapped in 30lb injectors and those are just right. I did find a major ground that had vibrated loose, which caused all sorts of weird issues like the hard starts. Once that was cleaned and reattached that took care of a lot of strange electrical problems. I just got a complete red interior out of an 89 vette with 80k miles, so that has me covered for the interior restoration.
The trans, well I'm kind of a manual trans killer for some reason, so it's getting a rebuild, but the OD unit is still good. I really think it'll do a little over 300 at the wheels at is and tickle 400 with the nitrous.
In reply to Cotton: Is it the OBDI that forces you to constantly burn a chip for every tune or is it the older ECU that does it?

I googled Ls miata, that came up, in my haste, I trusted the interweb. Rectified.
I concur about vette consumables, it costs too much to put a set of tires on those cars at the rate I burn through rubber. I dont know that I could handle the gm dash and plastic, I'd tear out the seats and steering wheel day 1 but I dont know if it'd be enough.
I almost never see a track slut corvette, but it makes me happy when I do.

I think it just a trait of the older style ECUs. It definitely wouldn't keep me from buying one or anything. There is a ton of great info out there to help you get started.
Who want's to join the z06 club for under $18k?
