We probably won't get the hatch but it's the powerplant that matters. Goodbye STI and hello turbo vtec y0.
And the source isn't Gawker!

OK I hate civics. But the idea of a factory turbo 300hp civic, amuses. Even better if it somehow gets loose in a wagon.
I'll believe it when I see it. I keep hoping that everyone will follow Fords example with one car for the world but I have very faith.
I said in the Civic thread that I wasn't the target for Civic sales, but this might breathe new life in the US for the 'Si' model. It probably won't have the same hp, but it would be nice just to have here. So, I wish all of you Si fans the best of luck...if and when.
And...I also want to see an Si wagon. Here.

May be but there is this equation that is always true as well.
300 HP + FWD = FUN!!!!!!!!!!
I dunno, the Focus ST and MS3 seem to do alright with almost that much hp. Not saying it wouldn't be better with some of that juice to the rear wheels, but gone are the days when 200hp is supposed to be the limit of any fwd car.
Those cars are barely able to handle 260 HP. The Focus RS in Europe had 300 and it was ridiculous. Torque-steer isn't the only problem, chassis balance and the inability to accelerate with the wheels anything but straight tend to kill lap times.
The Focus ST, GTI, and MS3 routinely stomp cars like the FRS/BRZ, Miata, etc. around a track. They seem to handle the power just fine. I had a Focus ST before I got the FRS I have now. I've also owned an MS3 and an NC Miata. The ST and MS3 were faster in pretty much any situation, even if they weren't as much "fun" to me.
If this thing comes to NA with 300 hp, it is going to twist the knife a little bit deeper into the FRS/BRZ psyche. These Hondas will be on the hunt for the twins just to kick sand in their faces. I imagine a lot of the Toyobaru buyers will have a hard time with this; they are already a defensive bunch due to the low power of their steeds.
Hey at least Honda puts a proper LSD in their vehicles. I think it'll be fine with that much HP, actually it'll make it fun. I used to be a huge FWD hater, Honda hater, etc. Thought they were all rice until I actually drove one, manhandled one on an AutoX course, and how well they were put together vs. American Muscle cars (not the new breed). They also handled better and were much faster or I just know how to drive them better than RWD. I drive the ultimate vag car now because it has AWD and we all know AWD is for Bob Costas so I don't have any say. I just hope it happens because the current K24 in the Si while being peppy just isn't that exciting compared to the awesome K20 that came out of it. It doesn't even have real VTEC....

Why? The Toyobaru still has the power going to the right wheels.
I'd take 200hp RWD over 300hp FWD any day of the week....
Plus it's not gonna be hard for Subaru to slap a turbo onto the twins if they need to, and there are also plenty of aftermarket options for boost already.
