As to the Civic R - not interested for the same reason I didn't buy an STi or Evo (which I can afford). I bought the "boring" wrx flat-side sedan. I like a car that goes fast but doesn't look fast. The Civic R in those drawings, looks-wise, is not the least bit appealing to me, regardless of drivetrain arrangement.
FWD is just another reason why I'm not interested.
We all know you're the resident "Subaru is sooo awesome yaaayyy!" guy. Everyones got their opinions on which wheels drive the car are best, my opinion as long as it's fun to drive I don't care....big wing, pink badges, better diffs, and all. Anyways, I highly doubt the US version will look anything like the Euro spec Type R. The past 3 generations of Si have been very conservative looking sans new 2015 Si Coupe. I also doubt we'll get a hatch if they are considering shoving that powerplant into a CR-Z.

300 HP + FWD = stupid.
Yes. But 300HP + AWD + HATCH = Jim a customer
I'm easier than that. 300HP+CRZ=I'm a customer

Been done. They called it the Cobalt SS.
In reply to wspohn:
It didn't have 300hp and it was not even close to the reliability and refinement that a typical Honda has.
About 15 years too late but it would be nice if it happened. It still amazes me that Honda completely abandoned the enthusiast market that they had built up so much momentum with in the late 90's and early 2000's. Yes they still did build the S2000 late into the decade, but they gave up on the Prelude, the Integra, the RSX, etc. in favor of pushing the "safe, reliable, eco friendly" image. They could have followed in Subaru's footsteps and done both.
