It was hotter than 7 hells. I had a blast.
It was SCR-SCCA's first every Rally Cross. We ended up with 54 drivers. Other than a few timing issues, things went pretty well.
Everyone got 6 runs in. Since so few SCR people have cars to beat on, I ran 6 driver through my old Lemons car. It survived the day and drove up on the trailer under its own power.
It was slightly dusty out there...
Pictures and video to be loaded ASAP.
Nice. That's pretty great turnout for rallycross. Our events rarely have more than that and we're considered a "high attendance" region.
Though, if anyone showed up wearing their "Solo Team" shirts at ours....they'd probably hear a lot of jokes pointed toward them in the driver's meeting :)
In reply to irish44j:
The Solo team was running the event, doing all the timing and scoring and hauled all the cones and equipment to the site. There weren't any jokes aimed at them today.
I managed to place 2nd in MF class, behind a regular rally crosser, and managed that on all season tires. I guess a lifetime of playing on dirt paid off.
That looks like a nice, fast course. That's the kinda thing I could have some serious fun with
Glad it went well. One of the guys that moved down from Ohio was helping get it started after running with our group last year.
Here's another video I posted in off topic. I'll drop it here for those that don't visit the dark side.

Just don't show my first run..........
Thinking about it, when are you going to show up to an event towing a racecar with Sanford?
In reply to rslifkin:
Realistically, next summer. Maybe spring. The weather is going to have to cool down some before I can get much done.
In reply to Toymanswife:
Station 3 didn't have to run far to get out of your way.
Is that Charles Wright leading the driver meeting?
In reply to EvanB:
Yes. He came up to help us out. We didn't have anyone that was a RallyCross safety steward. He and Ron Foley were kind enough to come up and train several of us for future events.

I'm actually afraid to try rallycross because I think it would ruin regular autocross for me.

It did for me, but then all the local sites disappeared so i focused on autocross and ended up pretty serious about it.
Theres 4 rallycross events a year around here and about 8 more that are 3.5 hours away, otherwise nothing. Or i could autocross EVERY single weekend. This winter i bought a rallycross car again only for the local sites to go away....again. :(
In reply to Duke:
We can arrange for you to have access to a rallyx car relatively close by.
Or there's this option:
$550 manual Mazda 323 NMNA
Thanks for the video. I didn't know rallycross could be so simple. Now I really want to make my own course. I thought it needed dirt, gravel, mud and macadam. The first 3 are easy.
FIA World Rallycross and SCCA RallyX are different beasts. FIA is multiple cars, circuit driving, on mixed surface gravel/dirt/mud/paved/whatever. SCCA is usually single surface (but not necessarily) and run like an autocross, just on dirt/gravel/mud.
