I saw an iX today

Holy crap!

Got a full blown preview demo of the BMW iX today. I never imagined technology would get to this!!

Truly amazing!

As a car guy, the point that stuck out the most to me was that the hood can't be opened except by a BMW tech. 
 

I guess that's one way to make sure we don't play with cars!

Yeah, I know that's kinda a cruel tease, and I certainly would have posted them. But the car was sitting inside the Service Drive of the dealership I am working at, so my pics can be identified. 
 

I don't want to get my customer in trouble for pics that were not supposed to happen. 
 

When it hits the showroom floor I'll post them.

Still has that horrible grille, which is even more horrible considering it doesn't even NEED a grille at all. 

Also, I entered this thread hoping to see this.....

Service hatches that can only be opened by the dealer should be illegal. For any product, not just cars.

I'm confused by the lack of a frunk. For a vehicle designed from the outset as electric, the packaging doesn't seem that great.

I'd also expect some lawsuits coming, similar to the ongoing John Deere lawsuits, over right to repair. There is obviously a lot of difference in an EV and an ICE, but if I need to go to BMW to fill up my washer fluid, there is a serious problem. I doubt that most new buyers will care though.

Had to look up what an iX even is. Yeesh, that thing is homely.

You can fill the washer fluid through the front roundel.

Yeah...  It's probably going to take a while before I can come to terms with the grill on recent BMWs, if I ever do... 

It also makes me sad that when I saw the OP I knew what he was talking about instead of thinking of the car you posted. 

What a world we live in when Kia is making handsome SUVs and BMW is making hideous over the top monstrosities.

BMW had one on display at the Daytona 24. It's heinous!

I don't get this either. I think the VW ID4 and Mercedes EQS are similar, so maybe it's something about the Germans? These are massive vehicles, but they seem to use space inefficiently compared to some of the competition

I just had a gag reflex.

I'm not advocating the asthetics. Anyone can love them or hate them. 
 

The technology however is amazing. I didn't drive it, but I did ride in it, and got a complete and detailed demo of the technology. 
 

When they hit the showroom floor, it's worth checking them out just to see the demo of everything this car can do. Mind boggling. 

The frunk is used for high voltage electronics, hard drives, etc. There are no user serviceable parts inside, and it can only be opened by a BMW tech.

The outside though is terrible.

The interior reminds me of the fuzzy suede interior my SVX had. Which is ironic considering the OP. I don't mind the material choice, but the implementation doesn't excite me. Can't stand the exterior though.
