I went to the BJ Palm Beach auction this past weekend and you could have bought a pretty nice Ferrari etc. for less than double what that Granada went for. Some things defy logic.

A car or any item for that matter at an auction is worth what ever some one is willing to pay for it. If there are two people (or more) that want it badly enough then that determines the price. Auction fever. That's how it works. At least it was/is a rare combination, low mileage Granada. Every so often a vehicle crosses the block that gets people going. A couple of years ago it was the $100K VW bus. A VERY nice VW bus but still just a crazy price. Now all VW buses seem to have shot up in value. BJ is laughing all the way to the bank. Still I think the big winner here is the seller. He/She is probably still celebrating!

VW Busses have been collectable for years, not $100K collectable, but on the rise. $100K was out of line when that first one sold, but there was a definite trend of collectability. I really don’t' see anyone ever collecting E36 M3ty North American Granada's
The Mk I Coupe's were seriously cool, but hey were another forbidden fruit from Europe. I remember these growing up.

Keeping a Grenada that perfect for that long, or even spending money to restore it, defies logic.
Some people laughed. Yeah. ALL of them laughed. Looks like somebody got the last laugh, though, when it sold for more than the Mercedes.
That price makes what was paid for this seem reasonable. From my post last year: B-J Strikes again.
Black and 4spd sure ticks the boxes, but $27,500 blows the box up!!
The fact at least two bidders were at war over these cars. I wonder if it came down to two schmucks driving up price for no earthly reason . . .
If a Granada can do that, I have a line on a clean, original, 30k mile full size '76 LTD Coupe for $3,500. Add some NOS wheel covers and I can turn a profit.

I know of a 1978 Chrysler something or other with 28000 that looks showroom fresh for 3500. A Chrysler has to be worth more than any Granada, right???
Does it have rich Corinthian leather?
I have enough parts in the garage to possibly make that interesting.
