I wanna thank this board

Several months ago, someone here posted a Q about what AWD car to get for his wife.I followed this with some interest as my wife drove my car when we had snow and was told that her next car would be so equipped...Not wanting to spend more than ten grand I think was another stipulation in the original thread, and again this fit with what she was looking for. Now some genius here suggested looking into a Jag Xtype. This is an option I wouldn't have thought about in my craziest dreams. I didn't even know they sold an awd car, didn't know it was based on the Ford Mondeo, or nuthin'.. but did some research and found one locally for 8 grand and took it to my mechanic buddy and we checked it out real careful-like, bought it, and she's put like 12k on it so far and it's not given us any hassle yet... and my wife says "I love this car" every time she drives it. So thanks very much for the tip. It's a very nice ride, handles well, good brakes, decent power, comfy, and has a lotta the Jag bling without a lotta the Jag, um, personality quirks. It's like this; I trip out, thinking "never would I have thought we'd ever have a Jaguar in the garage" but then I look and see no oil on the floor and remember that's it's really a euro Ford. Works for me!

I think all of the X-Types were AWD. They were pretty bashed int he UK for being based on the Mondeo, but since we don't get Fords as good as the Mondeo, we have a different opinion!

And the only reason it was AWD was that the Mondeo chassis was FWD, and you can't have a FWD Jag!, thus AWD.

Stock up on some rain-x. My buddy just got one and lost all wiper function on the highway during a downpour. Not sure how typical the problem is but I really like his car. its a 5 speed too!

I'm not sure, but I think Jaguar MAY have offered a "loss-leader" FWD-only model of the the "X" in the U.K. Europe also gets/got? a diesel powered version of the sedan and wagon "Xs". I just tried to get verification of the FWD "loss-leader" at the website for CAR, but couldn't. HOWEVER, apparently, there is/was a cheaper model X with the Mondeo's 4 cylinder engine which produces only 128 bhp. I would have to believe such an underpowered car would be FWD, but couldn't get it verified.

Although I've never driven an all-wheel drive car on track I have driven the other three types. In my order of preference is -

1) Rear wheel drive because that's what I learned on and my old ass cars have it.

2) Front wheel drive is Okay,

3) No-wheel drive just sucks

Are you kidding? Those are GREAT fun. I love cleaning up gear oil slicks. Shovelling kitty litter is a fantastic upper body workout too.

in canada we were able to get the wagon, it was awd. no to many of then around but the wagon looks better than the sedan.

lol i do too. i would be driving one if i could, but i dont think my AE86 is getting finished anytime soon since i lost my job and im contemplating selling it all just to drive this year. besides FWD> no wheel drive.
