If it were me I'd stick with what you have and build a different small block.

If I planned on running naturally aspirated, I'd likely just grab a cheap 350 and beef up the 700R4 that is already in the truck. Since I want to run a turbo, and make way more power than is sane, an LS build seems a better starting point.

Since putting the 4200 in a Colorado involves moving the radiator, I assume putting it in an S10 would require moving the radiator.. to the bed!

Amazingly enough, on the build I found, all they had to do was relocate the radiator into the core support, which I already did for the SBC swap.  That kind of made me wish the era of cheap JDM front cuts was still around, so I could grab a IJZ, 2JZ, or RB motor/trans combo for good price.  I had thought about a Lexus 1UZ or 3UZ as a starting point, especially since the early 1UZ is non-interference and takes boost well, but despite being compact for a DOHC motor, it was still wide enough that it would have to sit pretty high to fit, without reengineering the front suspension.

How about hanging a turbo off a 4.3?  GM did it in the Syclone and Typhoon.  Bolt in, other than some plumbing.

They didn't really "hang a turbo off the 4.3" so much as make a plumbing nightmare that would make a 3000GT VR4 owner wince.

Thus my fear of running a single turbo on an LS motor in a 1st gen S10.  Might be easier (but a bit more expensive) to run two smaller turbos.
