Spend a bunch more money get it done! Have to say that the second go-round far exceeded my expectations. When the clear went on it was like magic.

Now I must live in fear od damaging the finish during re-assembly

Looks beautiful - what made the difference the second time around?

Those headlights almost look like the eyes of a bug! (I'm Kidding) Looks great. Are you tempted to paint other things from around the house now that you have the setup all figured out? Will the SO soon have pretty silver kitchen table and chairs?

Looks great.

A few friends and some painters tape on the edges should help prevent (or at least minimize) any nicks or chips during assembly.

Wasn't this car suppose to be blue?

It is blue, in a silver kind of way.

So, what was the secret to getting such an awesome finish?

I have to say I was more expecting baby blue or something other than silver.. but your paint looks great

Actually the color IS a lot more blue but it shows as silver. Go figure.

A lot of through credit goes to the Devilbiss Techno spray gun. I have a few other guns that I have played with, but the difference between a cheap gun and this thing is night and day.

Other than that, using proper panel prep cleaner and knowing the difference between bondo and paint tack rags is all I can offer.

I suggest NOT standing it up in the front yard while installing the engine........

Its always surprises me when I slow down and actually do a 'full-assed' job, it always turns out well.

...then the next time I remember the hassle and pay someone else haha.

paint is just one of those things I could never get right.

Last time I painted a car.. it turned into a right mess. Spent weeks sanding and prep. cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned some more...

right before I sprayed the car, I hit an old filecabinent I had laying around to check flow...

Painted the car.. and got a ton of bubblepop from too much hardner... but the filecabinent came out perfect.

I gave up trying to paint after that
