I thaught we were not going to do the "list" threads any more. Or was that the this car versus that car threads that have been punted.
MINI Cooper S- r53 designation. Still the all around best FWD car i've ever driven. Hate the seats, notice them less significantly when I hook a clover leaf at...... advanced speeds.

Eh... I've been screwing around with MINIs since they were new. That wouldn't bother me.
I could come up with 25 project cars, but an hour later come up with a different 25. And most of what you nuts would post would interest me too.

i'm on #s 6, 7, 8, and 9 right now - 1 ton big block dually, v6 2wd shorty, k1500 350 burb, k2500 454 burb. i love them and they are the only trucks i will drive. easy to work on, go forever, look great, plentiful and cheap aftermarket. they would be in my top 10 best ever list. they make everything for them and you could have one that isn't the same as any other.
1957 chevies look good no matter what you do to them. gasser, dropped, stock, wagon, sedan, vert, delivery, nomad, hardtop, etc... no matter what project you do to one it looks great except for that god awful blurple speedster boyd built in the late 80's early 90's.
c4 vette. they build them for everything and they're affordable.
240Z
260Z
280Z
Triumph Spitfire
Triumph GT6
MGB-GT
e30
BMW 2002
Subaru Justy 4WD
GC Impreza
Jeep Cherokee
find a Lancia Delta
Fiat X1/9
Merkur Scorpio (only because it has a cool name)
XR4TI
Acura Vigor (because they're 5-cyl)
1980s Audi (any type)
Volvo 242...preferably in wagon form
in no particular order
I don't have 25, but here is my list:
I'm still waiting for someone with deeper pockets than me to do a LS powered TR7. I've seen what the wedge cars can do with 300HP at the rear wheels, and it is phenomenal. Getting there the old way of stroking a Rover to 5.0 liter is expensive, like 10 grand plus in engine work expensive. I'd like to see someone get more power cheaper and more reliably with the LS.
A couple on my list:
Fox body Mustangs
GM G-bodies
Trucks, don't care what make and model they all fit.
GM F-bodies
Stuff that others might have missed: Full Size Jeep (either pickup or suv) A truck from the '40s or '50s with the fenders lower than the hood type look.
Civic, any Triumph, GM G-body, Fiat SOHC cars (including Yugo ), any Renault, any Citroen, any Peugeot, XJ6,
All of these vehicles have been done and are popular for obvious reasons. Personally however, I like the less obvious choices, like the GRM Camry or a 9-second Cressida Wagon.
There are some cars out there that were plentiful and not too bad, but overshadowed by better options at the time. Like the last-gen Mercury Cougar, the last-gen Malibu Max SS, the Dodge Caliber SRT or the boxy/breadvan era Civic Si.
Or how about the Ford Probe (and it's siblings) and the Contour SVT? Both excellent platforms that could really be taken to the next level? Or the Audi A3? Great car that some depreciation and a 500hp turbo motor would really wake up!
What about some orphans? The Pontiac GTO is an obvious choice due to it's awesomeness, or the Saab 9000 or a Oldsmobile of some sort?
