I've never bought a new car.  I've bought six cars with an average age of seven years at purchase, and I have kept them an average of six years.  But that last number is skewed low since I still own two of them.

Newest of the fleet and newest I've ever bought is a 2007 bus.

Interestingly enough, the oldest is a 1956 bus.

The youngest at the time of purchase was a 1997 E150 conversion van, bought in 2001.

I'm pretty certain that I have bought the newest vehicle I will ever buy. They got infinitely more complicated in the late 2000s, but not better enough to justify the complications.

Hmmm, youngest would probably be a 69 bug I bought sometime in the 80's. 15 ish years.

Newest car would be a 69 Bug I bought sometime in the 80's.

Someday I guess I should buy a car from the 70's and see what those are like...

(realistically, I do drive my wife's 87 B2000 a lot.  You know, because sometimes modern cars have their uses)

My BMW was only 14 years old when I bought it. It's also the first car I ever owned that's younger than me.

I am pretty sure the newest car I've ever bought was 12 years old. I bought a 69 Datsun 510 in '85, my '88 323gtx in '99, my lil treasure '90 Protege in '06, etc etc...I think I am allergic to car payments.

2001 Mercedes S55. Paid $4700, shortly after the first time I filled it up with gas the transmission computer failed and caused a but ugly scene with the dealer I bought it from and took a month to get it back, then I drove it enough to need gas again and shortly after that blew an abc line on the freeway and ended up only getting $850 selling it. Not a very good deal. Also had a 2000 TDI Jetta, I put about 3k miles on it and about $1500 in maintenance and ended up deciding it wasn't going to be worth all the repairs it needed and sold it for what I paid for it.

Thinking back, it amuses me a bit how back in 1990, buying a 4 year old truck was really buying a used truck - my Toyota was already starting to signs of age. Whereas today a 4 year old truck is practically new.

I bought an '89 Mustang 1 year old. I had a car loan. I was laid off for a year and and had to take it off the road because I couldn't afford the insurance. Since that fiasco I pay cash for all my vehicles.

I also can’t really play this game. The oldest vehicle I’ve bought was a 1977 Dodge D200 in 2006 or so, but most of my cars have been new or newer. I just bought a new Tacoma on Thursday, a leftover 2017 SR DCSB 4x4, to replace my 2012 Outback (good riddance).

I love new cars. I love being the only person to own it, drive it, break it in and maintain it, I even like the buying process for the most part.

My first new car was my '05 Mustang. I still have it, and it's been paid for long ger than I had a payment. It has less than 130k on it, so I'm still counting that as a smart purchase. There a certain vehicles (pickups, jeep wranglers) where it can make financial sense to buy new, and for sports cars I like the idea of being the only one to have abused it. Sometimes that makes it worth it to me to buy new, even if the financials aren't quite in line.

We bought my wife a 2014 Mazda 6 brand new. Makes no sense financially but I wanted her to have the experience at least once.

I've had all used cars. The newest one was a 2000 Tacoma TRD 4x4/5 speed in 2002. Was looking at new trucks when I found it. 12k miles, $20k.

Dealer was having trouble moving it. I'm sure part of that was the manual transmission, which worked out well since that was a non-negotiable requirement for me. The TRD supercharger may have put people off also. Fun truck to drive with the blower.

I got really good at launching it in 4 WD, pulling it into 2 WD, and shifting into second gear without hitting the rev limiter.

Had to sell it in 2004, wouldn't baby. Sold it for $17,500 with 36,000.

I had it on the side of the road for 5 minutes before the cops made me move it, already had a buyer.

My newest car was also my first. 2004 P71 bought in 2008. Then a 2001 V70 in 2010, a 1966 Chevy truck in 2013, 1997 GMC truck in 2016 and now a 2001 Insight in 2018. I wouldn't mind getting a newer vehicle, but I don't know if I'll ever buy new.

Bought a 2005 Suzuki GS500F sometime around 2007, but I don't think I've bought anything else nearly that new. The only other thing that comes close was a 4 or 5 year old Ford Focus.

Never bought a new car, but the last few have been "nearly new"

Got a '16 Focus ST in 2016 with 10k miles. Also got a Passat and BRZ with similar mileage.

I just can't resist saving 5-10 grand on a car that's maybe been farted in a few times.

Never had a new car. Youngest car was a 2002 SAAB in 2007. Latest car was/is a 2006 TSX that I still have.

Only bought one brand new car.  1998 Integra GSR sedan, 4 miles on the odometer when I picked it up.  All the others were between 5 and 30 years old when I got them
