Yup, I'm a hypocrite. It's all because I like this.
Check out this video...
For some reason in real life I can't get behind this "sport". Watching those guys do it...seems like fun.
Not a debate on whether it's a sport or not. It is because other people view it as such. I'm just amazed at how a different take on the sport really works.
I am also an RC car freak, and I always wanted to get one of these. You should go to one of their events and go to some of the forums and such, it is HUGE! as you can see in Japan. You would be surprised of all the things they put into these and the different items they use, it is getting to be like real drifting, they are like us in a way! Between the smoke cartridges and tires and lights they use, incredible..... If you are good some teams will recruit you in......and they have teams, it's literally like the real thing.
i prefer the rc rock crawling over rc drift personally

I have a buddy that is sponsored by Kyosho. Obviously he is racing 1/8th scale nitro 4x4 buggies. How I miss the days of dropping $3K on something I can't even sit in and drive...
nice, yeah if your good, you can make a career out of it! I wouldn't mind starting
RC Grassroots Motorsports
I love the Scale 4X4 trucks.....Hilux.....FJ40
shoot, i was hoping this was a thread on being a hypochondriac. one of which i am married to. i have good stories about her issues.
Hypochondriac (hī-pō-kon’drē-ak): a person with somatic over-concern, including morbid attention to the details of bodily functioning and exaggeration of any symptoms no matter how insignificant.
I need to fix my RC car...First I need money
They are fun though, pretty close to the real things... and the setup and tuning isn't too far off either (though sometimes more extreme, exaggerated camber ect...)
I don't doubt drifting is fun, the only reason I don't partake in it is cause I don't wanna spend that much money on tires and whatnot. Sure it's more akin to ice skating than racing, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun.
I had quite a few rc trucks before I started dumping all my money into cars I could jump in and drive. I can appreciate the attention to detail those drift guys have, the scale trucks are awesome too. But my favorites were the monster trucks, beating the crap out of one on a construction site is a hoot.
never had a good RC... few friends did and it was amazing at how quick they where... I can see where people get addicted... I personally have no intrest in drifting or doing the rock crawling for real... but it would be sweet with an RC
between the form, smoke, and lights I was amazed by that video! I just love em, but depending on what you do you can drop a grand or two into one easy.

That makes me want to replace the blown shocks in my T-Maxx and jump more big stuff, to find the next weak link, or drop the suspension all the way down, pull the front driveshaft and see if I can drift it.
I see stadium trucks do it!
I race kyosho mini z's, got 4 of them. We race every tuesday night at 7pm ( thehobbyshoponline.com ). If eny one around here wants to show up I'll have a car ready for you.
How did they get those shots that are moving with the RC cars, like out the back of a camera car? Do they literally have an RC camera car?
I wish my parents were rich enough to buy all that stuff for me.

I never got good enough to be sponsored (heck, I wasn't any good at all! ) but I raced 1/10 electric buggies for a few years. Lots of fun! It turned out to be cheaper to go back to racing motorcycles, though.
