No, not that problem! When I first get on the forum the text in the "last post" column shows up and then instantly disappears. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have a fix for it? Thanks, Jim

That thread indicates that others have had the problem, but how does it tell me how to correct it? Edit - And why is it suddenly working even though I didn't do anything? Is this some kind of sick conspiracy?

Because I fixed it. That's why I was asking what browser in the other thread.

I need to check it out on my laptop, 'cause it works fine on the desk top in the living room.

I'm admittedly a little computer ignorant by choice, but if the problem is the browser, as implied in the other thread, how did you fix it? It would seem that the problem would be on my end in that case. In any case, thanks for fixing it!

Each browser has it's own little quirks and oddities. Usually when there's a problem, it's just one browser acting up. Usually it's IE6, but that's another rant. None of them are immune, so whenever there's a problem the first question is always "which browser". On this particular site, screen size can also be a factor, but it's usually the browser.

If you're fairly knowledgable about the browser quirks, once you see it you can usually immediately identify what it is. In this particular case, it was IE's flaky handling of relative and absolute positioning
