There's something wrong with you.

I'd know (I have it too!).

Ho-lee level of PREP! The money that must've been spent on that thing.

It does look awesome, but as long as you are fabricating custom subframes, i'd have moved the engine to the back.

Notice the transmission isn't in the section that starts out stating 'The following hardware is good for 600WHP'

Ditch the faux hood scoop, paint it like a period Olds NASCAR, or possibly IMSA car and it'd be OK.

That price is 110% crack pipe though.

i bet those headers are a fun time putting on...

when finished it would probably be a blast though, but yea another vote for needing it to be RWD

I think it's fine FWD; it's not like there are no good FWD cars out there. A custom aluminum subframe is crazy.

But ... did they glue felt to the dash? And what's with that horrid diffuser at the rear? It has problems.

That almost works...except for FWD.

There is a W-body in the family (96 Regal GS) and they aren't all that bad. Interesting that he turbo'ed one of the easiest engines in the world to find a junkyard supercharger for. Assuming the usual CL actual transaction price of 50% of asking that would be a fun thing to have around.

FWD or not, it just looks badass. I'm sure $5500 is reasonable compared to what is invested in it, but I couldn't spend my $5500 on it.

In reply to dculberson:

Likely flocked with felt, meaning glue was applied and then felt bits were sprayed on top of it.

Nice on race cars as it cuts down on glare and can hide a multitude of sins (like dash crack repairs, etc.)

I've seen more effort put into worse finished products. I like it.

+1 on a period NASCAR or IMSA livery.

That is a mishmash of awesome parts poured into a box filled with bad ideas.

It still might be worth $4k for all the parts - to put into a proper RWD chassis or just turn the motor longways and move the drive wheels.

I like this way more than I should. It's like the Grand Am SC/T concept they made around 2000-01, and I am still sour GM never had the balls to build it.

Say what you will but I'm digging how clean the engine install looks.

Does anyone else remember when the Cutlass was the best selling car in America, nearly a half-million sold per year?

What would let go first - the trans or the axles?

I've always wondered what would've happened if GM made all of these vehicles rwd. I bet there would a cult fanatic following around these and they wouldn't be offered up for 350$ on CL.

(Note to self: if I ever start a car company, make all of the vehicles RWD for huge resell value and brand rep building)

I get the sarcasm, but G bodies are the RWD predecessors to the FWD W-bodies. Even the same model names for some of them (Regal/Cutlass/Monte Carlo/Gran Prix). I haven't seen many for $350 lately but I'm pretty sure you can still find them in project-ready condition for about $1000.

And back to the original ad for the 1996 - what is that thing with the fan behind the rear passenger's wheel (image 14)? There is clearly no differential at the back, so what is it cooling?
