Things don't always go to plan, I'm out of the challenge. Over budget and out of time and talent to over come it. (wait, I never had talent). Add in a few 'Life happens" issues and well...maybe next year.

Good luck everyone

Sucks, man! The Challenge is on my list, but you've already gotten farther than I ever have just by starting a project car... Better luck next time.

Have you already budgeted the time off? If you've never been I would encourage you to come, even without the car. Great event, great people and some amazing builds for motivation.

I was roughly $600-$700 over budget. I had counted on doing a whole season of autocross on the new tires to wear them down to a lower FMV at the time of the challenge. Took so long to get it all ironed out that there isn't enough time left. Some of the parts I counted on selling didn't sell. Also became apparent that driving it to and from the challenge wasn't going to be practical with the time I had allowed. (Severally misjudged engine speed / gearing / tire size)

I'm not all sour grapes about the whole experience, just need to re-think my approach with a new platform.

Thanks for the offer, Angry. Didn't realize you were just down the road!

Yup, I had to run down some kumho's just when I was getting the hang of those hella sweet hankooks, time to relearn R compounds.

What bolt pattern? I may be able to help with the tire situation

I looked at Kuhmos, but the only thing in my size (225/50/15) is the AST which is a piece of E36 M3 or the V710 which while in the Challenge budget, is out of mine. I'd need a second set of wheels and a way to get them to Florida. Looked for used stuff, came up empty.

once again, I'm not complaining, just talking about whats going on.

I sold the car yesterday.
