My Father-in-law just picked up a first-gen Focus for my young brother-in-law and it has had some very shoddy work done to it (done by the type of kid that throws a big fin on the back and paints the stock wheels black ) and I'm trying to put it back to normal. So far I know it needs a new air box and sensor, exhaust manifold, and exhaust. I'd like to get these parts from a pick-n-pull type place and am wondering what other cars have the Zetec so I can pull parts from them if there aren't any junked Foci available. Thanks.

I think the Contours and Mystiques had the zetec when they didnt have V6s installed. Mercury Cougar, Ford ZX2, too. (wiki is your friend)
Thanks for those. I checked Wikipedia, but it didn't return much. I'll go back and check again.
Unfortunately all Zetecs are not the same. The basic engine is but many of the ancillary parts are different.

Contique and escort zetecs have variable cam timing (VCT) on the exhaust cam for smog purposes (no egr system). The heads aren't interchangable with the focus. The valve covers are also different because of the VCT sensor plug.
Not sure if the trans bolt pattern is the same on the escorts or not as they were bolted to mazda x-axles. Contique was the same MTX75 x-axle as the focus.
The exhaust manifold from the escort will not interchange with the focus because the collector is in a different location. Not sure about the contique.
The escort airbox is completely different (cone filter vs. panel) and in a different location. The escort box is ahead of the battery and the focus box is behind the battery. Also not sure about the contique.
escape also had the zetec in the 4cyl models. I don't know what they have that will interchange.
If you ever do a complete timing belt job including pullies, you only need the two pully kit (instead of three). Nobody will tell you that though ;)
True. Some early engines had three pulleys, later ones had two and the third is not needed even on the older engines.

+3 You should be able to find most of those pieces at a pick-n-pull as Focuses are starting to show up there.
You might also sign up and check out the For Sale forum on FocalJet. There are a lot of people on there that have modified their cars and have the stock parts tossed in a corner somewhere.
If the car has more than 75K on it I would replace the timing belt and while you have it apart do the water pump also.
Thanks for all the info. We're heading to the yard today to see what we can scrounge up.
Just for a little closure. None of the parts I was looking for were available on anything but the Focus. Luckily I found one that had been rear-ended at the local pick-n-pull and got the pieces I needed.
