It was probably red flagged for lightening within like six miles. During club races its a half hour wait after a strike, somehow the time always flys by whenever tv cameras are involved.....

I second the IMSA does not do a good job of promoting itself.  I had no idea it was on, and I frequent a few motorsports sites beyond this one.  Nothing.  Not much in the way of news, and certainly no commercials promoting it.  You almost have to be a diehard fan in order to know when it comes on, and I crewed in IMSA years ago.  Its sad as they put on a great show, but I feel a lull coming from them.  They have had great manufacturer interest in recent years, but have not done a very good job of capitalizing on that beyond their diehard fan base.  Its tricky to be sure, but you have to self promote.

I'm a big fan of IMSA and try to attend a race every year at Mosport or Watkins Glen.  Fantastic events, highly recommend. But I'm not a big TV watcher, and seldom sit down to watch replays on their (excellent) YouTube channel. Net result is that I don't really know what's going on in IMSA beyond my chosen race weekends, whereas I am constantly hearing about driver moves and controversies in F1, about which I care very little. Sad to say IMSA just doesn't enjoy the same level of cultural hegemony as F1 or NASCAR (despite, IMO, being much more entertaining racing). How does anyone expand beyond a diehard fanbase?

I think it is crazy that IMSA won't put out a caution when a rainstorm comes. They wait until cars crash and THEN throw the inevitable full course yellow. Or, in this case, the red flag.  Seems like it would be safer and cheaper for everyone to put out the yellow as soon as the cloudburst arrives, and let everyone pit for rain tires.

One of the many things I love about IMSA versus other racing groups/series is that they run rain or shine unless there's just too much standing water.  Makes strategy more important, and a lot more driver skill and thoughtfulness is required in inclement weather.  You want to see some awesome weather patterns in a race, check out the 6 Hours of Spa in 2019 (FIA World Endurance Championship race).  They had sun, rain, sleet and snow all in one six hour race.

Formula 1, MotoGP, etc.

F1 will sometimes start behind the pace car under yellow to help get some water off the track so they can go racing.

That's a good point on the MotoGP.  It's even crazier watching those guys run in the rain and still lean it over in the turns.

Come on man.  That's like saying "I'm not interested in cars I don't own."  Or, maybe you're not.  But really?

A general "why u no talking about this" came up, I supplied a requested answer.

I'm not interested in cars I will never own, either.

Fair enough.

You could be right.  I have flagged at club races and we have stopped them when lighting is detected in the area.

I think the IMSA radio/ radio LeMans team is really great. They should promote them! It's fun to listen to them and watch an onboard when the imsa website cooperates. The NBC product is also extremely underwhelming and I'm unlikely to subscribe again. The commentary is low-level and they have zillions of ads and blimp shots and human interest stories.

IMSA could also do too promote it's historic tracks as well. The Lime Rock race last year was super exciting, and Petit LM is always super cool.

Hopefully with LMDh there can be a true global championship and we can get back to euro teams running Daytona at the top level and a bunch of US entries at LM.

I listened to it in the garage on IMSA.com since NBC did not carry the race although it did get shown and recorded on NBCSN at 1:30am. For me BOP "racing" is not very appealing right now.

It was a great race. Really disappointed that VIR has said no fans for the gt class race in two weeks.

I really wanted to troll Jordan Taylor after his Instagram “we won” post. That win was handed to them when the top two cars crashed out.

Did he get the trophy?  I guess not crashing is a good plan...

I agree, i love the IMSA radio/radio LeMans broadcast.  If only they could do the televised races.  I understand why Townsend Bell wanted to get back in a car, NBC's team is painful to watch sometimes.

Townsend is far and away the best part of their coverage. Hinch was great for their Indy coverage, they should replace PT with him - relevant, modern technical knowledge and so much less derp.
